Getting Approved for Affiliate Programs
Published on August 17, 2025
Published on Wealthy Affiliate — a platform for building real online businesses with modern training and AI.
When I started my website, only used Amazon Affiliate program for external links as didn't have enough articles written, Google traffic, or social media followers.
When i published just 5 articles, tried applying for programs through Shareasale and denied. I continued writing and gaining more traffic from Google to increase my online presence.
Now that I have 30 plus articles, applied for the same affiliate programs and got approved.
I followed these steps to build up my website to get better odds of approval.
Build Online Presence First
- Built my online presence first with a professional looking niche website that is niche focused and trustworthy like in our training here at WA.
- Active Social Media Channels, some programs ask about your social media presence. I have a content planner calendar for 30 days advance to share my articles on social media.
- Niche Relevance-I make sure my content matches my niche. For example, you don't want travel related niche on your home decor shop.
Making Your Website Affiliate Ready
I tried to apply with just 5 articles, denied, so I waited until 30 articles. You can try before 30, that number is just my number I went by.
- Add Quality Content-Have 10 well written SEO friendly content articles plublished.
- Include Legal Pages- Affiliate programs like to see privacy page, about is page, and contact us page. This is also in or WA training.
- A Professional Design-A clean, easy-to-navigate layout builds trust. The sidebar on my website is basic not cluttered with categories, last 5 published articles, last five comments with me last name they see on comments with replies like Kyle teaches us in the training.
- Traffic Matters: Some programs like to see certain amount of traffic to your website before approving you.
Apply Thoughtfully to Program
- Don’t mass-apply: Pick programs that match your audience and niche.
- Fill out applications carefully: Explain who your audience is, your content strategy, and how you plan to promote.
- Be transparent: Never misrepresent your traffic or brand. Honesty builds long-term relationships.
Highlight Your Value
In the application, stress things like:
- Your niche expertise (why your content fits the product).
- Your promotion strategies (SEO, blog posts, YouTube reviews, social media, email lists).
- Your audience engagement (commenting, sharing, following).
Start with Beginner-Friendly Networks
If you’re just getting started, apply to programs that are easier to get into:
- Amazon Associates – simple approval process.
- ClickBank & Digistore24 – instant approval, no website traffic required.
- ShareASale & CJ Affiliate – medium difficulty, but many merchants accept smaller publishers.
- Impact & Awin – lots of brands, but some require proof of traffic.
Follow Up if Rejected
Don’t get discouraged if you’re not approved the first time.
- Improve your site (add more content, polish design).
- Reapply after 30–60 days.
- Sometimes reaching out directly to the affiliate manager helps—they’ll give feedback on why you weren’t approved.
