Birthday Celebration for My Grandon
Yesterday, 9/11 was my oldest grandson's birthday and he turned 10.
As he gets older and in school Alex has questions about 9/11. He came to me and said Nana why was I born on a bad day. I sat him down explained to him it's not bad day he was born but bad people did horrible things hurting thousands of people and their families. I kept it short best possible, saying its good he is learning about that day in history now and why it's a Remembrance Day.
His mom took cupcakes, candy, chips, and soda to school for him celebrate his birthday with his classmates. My daughter Ashley Alex mom was called to school, because Alex would not participate in his own party as he was in corner crying, he told his mom there is a lot of kids who don't have parents and why should he have parents that make sure he loved and not missing him grow up.
After little talk with his mom, he joined in on his party. When was time the grandkids got off bus I hid, and I heard Alex ask his mom when I will see Nana again. He came to his bedroom to play his PlayStation, waited until he turned it on for noise I eased out from closet up behind him started tapping him on his shoulder. He turned around crying giving a long hug, and we talked for a bit played a game together.
I cherish all my grandkids, and this birthday I will remember.

Aww, he seems like such a caring, thoughtful boy ❤️ Keep raising him well.
If he’s feeling down about being born on 9/11, you can tell him something like:
(Insert the spirit you believe in) chose that day for you because the world needed your bright and caring spirit to remind people that goodness and love still exist, even on sad days. You were sent here to bring joy and light when people remember the darkness.
You might also encourage him to make it his own tradition by turning his birthday into something like “Spreading Joy Day" where each year, he can choose a way to spread kindness to those effected by 9/11 whether it’s doing something nice for someone else, making people smile, or even just sharing his laughter.
That way, he doesn’t just carry the weight of the date but instead he reshapes it into something uplifting and meaningful that people will look forward to celebrating with him while actively helping him to reshape his thoughts and feelings as well.
Hope this helps,
~Marlinda

Thanks for sharing this, Jannette, and thanks for making it clear. Bad people for their own reasons do such things even on good days. Looking forward to a day when humans will finally understand their fate and instead work towards their destiny, together with no finger pointing at each other in a bad way.
I was more for me, my family, my clan, my tribe, my country, my continent, until when I realized I also have my world, my planet, my Solar System, my Milky Way, my universe, and my creation. That way, we can see the bigger picture of things. Until then, we'll hide behind ideologies that harm us than good, whether religious or secular.
