Registering on the internet
Ok, All. I have a really stupid question. I hope other people are just as confused as me, because I feel really dumb not knowing how to do this. I don't feel all that stupid because I asked three of my friends and they didn't know either. How do I register my website on the internet? I got this notice from somebody that I was trying to set up as an affiliate:
We understand your disappointment and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused due to the termination of your account. The reason why we terminated your account because It is not yet registered on the internet. Please be informed that in order to become a publisher with us, we require a valid working website with proper contents.
We request you to provide detailed information about you, your business, your website
(such as expected launch date), and a description of any online channels and/or activities you undertake to promote your network advertiser partners that will allow us
to evaluate how you generate referral traffic. Please respond within three business days, otherwise we may close the account.
So, what do you all think? I thought when we published our website on WA, it was publishing to the internet. Help! Thanks.

Buy a domain name from someone. Then transfer your site to that domain. That should resolve the issue.
Thank you. I did that yesterday with WA. I even transferred it from Site Rubix to WA thanks to Kyle's awesome video showing step by step how to do it. I just resubmitted an email to the company I am trying to get affiliated with and told them so. If they don't want me, oh well, their loss. Right? Ha.
It is always best to have your own Domain in the future, but don't feel silly, as we are all learning and have strengths and weaknesses in all the areas, so keep moving forwards and upwards. :)
Hi Janice, I'm glad you were able to get help with this and found out that you need to have your own domain. I would have been baffled also. These people should have EXPLAINED that siterubix is a subdomain, so it disqualifies your site as far as they're concerned. But remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question! It's by asking questions that we gain knowledge. Best wishes, Amanda
OK everybody. Thanks to Mike at GiterDun the problem is solved. It is a siterubix and that is a sub-domain name. I do need to purchase my own domain name from WA in order to become an affiliate for somebody. Thank you all for your help. Hope this helps out for all of you.
Is this a website you own or a siterubix site? If it is built on siterubix, I think you'll have trouble signing up for affiliate programs until you buy a domain and transfer your site to it. If you have already transfered it to your own top level domain (xx.com, xx.net, xx.org) then your problem is something weirder and I'm sorry but it's above my paygrade. Good luck.
Yes, it is a battle but we can overcome that with all the help from our friends here at WA. Are you having a problem with something? Maybe there is somebody out there that can help you. It could even be me.
Not sure what they are asking you to do! As long as you have done all the Google authorization stuff you should be fine.
Really, is this a legit company you are trying to work with?
Sheila
Yeah, I guess so. I was checking out resale stores and they are one of the largest in the country. Maybe I shouldn't start off with a big one considering I have no idea what I am doing. LOL.
Sounds like a scam to get your personal information. No one can just close your account. Do you have your own domain name?
Is your website ranked in Google yet? That's the only kind of "registration" I can think of that you would need.
Some companies that you apply to have their own 'measuring stick' as to how useful your website will be to making sales for them. I've seen some reject an application just based on the fact that the applying affiliate was not receiving enough traffic to their site.
Someone here should have a better answer for you.... ;)

I just did a search for my website and it actually came up at the top of the list. I did a rank on google the other day and it ranked it at 87%. It is not a secure site yet and I thought maybe that was the cause of it not being better. Said to resize some of my pictures, which I did, and it went down to 82%. Go figure.
haha - yeah, you never know what might happen sometimes. ;) I just PMed you, Janice. It's hard to give worthwhile feedback without knowing more details than you have provided here. ;)
