Recharging Batteries
It has been an odd week. Come to think of it, it is only Wednesday.
Monday's eclipse was (at least in my neck of the woods) not much of a wow, but more of a hmmmm. I was glad to see Justin Scarred posted a great vlog about his experience with Adam the Woo on YouTube on Tuesday. They guys were in Idaho and had an amazing time. That vlog actually made me feel like I was at least experiencing the eclipse instead of a potential storm. I am told that the next one, in 7 years, will be total in my area.
What with errands to run and a change in weather it has felt a bit...off center. I know my email from WA has drastically reduced. It seems that either a lot of people who posted a lot aren't or have moved on. I really don't know.
What I do know is that I'm receiving interesting, useful posts from people who have things to share. I appreciate them very much! At least one has brought me back on track in a couple of ways.
There has been discussion lately about the changes in rankings and the reasons people are here. I can only state what I've stated elsewhere; I am here to learn and grow a business. To social side is nice and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the teamwork and community that WA is built on, but I have no interest in rankings.
Reminds me very much of several conversations with former bosses who simply didn't understand why I wasn't going for the title and corner office. That was their ambition, not mine. I am a doer, not a traffic director.
Which probably explains the odd 2 a.m. sessions at the computer working on posts, updating software and looking to see what is new.
Sure couldn't do that doing a 9 to 5. LOL!
For the new folks, take your time, give yourself space and don't get ahead of yourself. The lessons are designed to move you forward step by step - if you skip, you have to go back and that robs you of time you could have spent doing other things.
For the folks who have been here longer than I, thank you for your wisdom, humor and experience. They mean a lot.
Have fun - and a great week!

A great plan to take that training and let it move you from concept to concept and full proficiency here!
Janet,
You bring up a good point. We all need to stay focused on doing the training and building our sites. It can be very easy to distracted after reading a post that talks about a different theme, a cool new plug-in, or how to add videos our sites.
You end up going off on a tangent and then you realize you haven't written any content. For a new site content is the key. It's what brings the traffic. Adding pretty shiny things can wait to later.
You're right I'm taking my time trying to do this right the first time. The rankings are nice, but like you said I'm here to become a successful internet marketing affiliate.
Thank you for a concise, heart felt blog about something g that certainly concerns you about the eclipse, but also your role here.
Yes, it was a bad thing for me to try and go in front of the training. It has cost me over a week in 'catch up' work.. I will know better next time!!!
T
I totally agree about the social rankings- I'm here to learn about building affiliate marketing websites, all else may be pleasant, or just a distraction.
The eclipse was a big deal where I am, and while an engaging distraction, it helped me to focus on family and the blessings of nature, rather than SEO strategies!
Thanks for sharing, and best wishes for your success!

You offer sage advice, Janet.I think in really knowing our own paths, do we not become so easily swayed by those corner offices. Good for you!
