Who To Follow?
I have noticed something as I am building my network of people here at WA, When I read someone's blog post's. I usually look at who follows them? As a new guy here I am not trying to pick on other new people but I need people that can help me get to the place I need to be so that I can help others! and I do follow some new persons. However I am usually looking for the people that have been here and have some skills for when I need help, because I know I am going to need help?
But what I wanted to point out is something that I have seen here is that you may read someone's profile and say to yourself wow I would really like to get to know them!
AND what I wanted to bring up is before you just hit the follow button? Scroll down a little and see what the last date that should any activity, over on the right hand side You will see where others have posted comments on their page.
I have found lots of these that the last comment was 6 months plus so it seems to me that would be wasting time?
I would love to know what you guys think about this and how you handle this?
Please leave some comments and let me know thanks!

I am a bit like Loes tend to follow back, however do not discount new members some of them have good skill sets and are looking to improve themselves and their business
I absolutely follow back when someone follows me, I just wanted to point out that I think there are lots of people that have dropped out and are not working WA, but their profile is still showing up, So my question is if someone has no activity for 6 months or more is it a waste of my time to try and follow that person?
I do understand where your coming from it is difficult to always know some people have just been less active or busy with other things and reappear, the only guide you can perhaps know for sure is the activity which is reflected in the rank,
Hi James,
I would first read through the profile of the member that I want to follow, just to ensure that this is an active member that we could get in touch here. Same as what you thought and agree to your point.
But I won't be selective on their WA rank or skill as new members for sure won't be ranked well as they just joined. As for skill, I believe everyone is unique with certain skill. They may not have the skill we need in help today but doesn't mean they can't help in other way.
Moreover, instead of thinking to get help from them, may be we could think what we could offer to help them. The great thing I love about this community is everyone is trying to help, support and encourage each other. Sometimes, by giving without any intention for return, may bring us some surprises in one day without asking.
I wish you all the best and success!
Cheers
Jan
Hi Jan, and thanks for your comment, I have followed new people, and there have been some that I have offered my advice to not as a pro here but my skill level in life in general! Words of encouragement!
Thanks again have a blessed day!
James
I haven't been here long, but I try to help people who have just joined WA, I mainly follow people who have just joined.
BUT
You always want to have 3 sets of people in your life.
The people below you who you can mentor and inspire
The people on your level, who can help you stay motivated and can be your best of friends.
Last but not least the people above you who can mentor and inspire you.
So follow people in those three categories and you will see a lot of different perspectives in life :)
Hi and thanks for your thoughts, I really like your three sets of people in life, I will remember that!
Have a blessed day!
James
Hi James,
I too try to follow people that have been here awhile and active in thier blogging and trainings so I can learn from them. But occasionally I will follow a newbie back because we might have something in common and it's always good to help others find their way and give a little insight or encouragement when it's needed.
I pretty much follow those who follow me. I'm not technical so I really enjoy reading the blogs of ones who are. I learn a lot. For me, I try to be encouraging and pass on what I've learned if I think it will help. :)
So true in my opinion. Another factor I look for is people who are not necessarily knowledgeable but are actively trying to learn. They are apt to ask great questions that we all can learn from when they receive feedback. And to top that, I am always happy to help people where I am able. Sometimes, I even surprise myself :) The whole pay it forward mentality here has much value for all of us!
Good point about the ones trying to learn! and I agree about paying it forward! Thanks for the comment!
Blessings,
James
That make total sense.
Follow those you can help, and those who could teach.
How many of each will Depen on your tech level.
I thought it did just wanted to point it out and see what others thought? Thanks for your thoughts, have a blessed day!
James

I am battling with this is well. I look for people setting a good example. And who I can learn from. And Iike to follow newbies, to encourage them and see how they progress.
I have done the same, To encourage because it does help you feel better about a new venture when someone else is supportive!
Thanks for your thoughts!
You R most welcome. If you motivate and encourage you do not find time to think about stuff less important or negative stuff. That is how I see it.
