The best free themes I can recommend are
oceanwp - plus ocean exrtas
Astra
Hestia
I use all these themes in conjunction with free elementor page builder, I also use envato elements where you can directly upload full page ready made templates into your website and fill in your own content and images.
If you search for these themes on youtube you will find some great tutorials from nayyar shaikh and wp crafter

There are absolutely thousands of free and paid themes you can access online.
Do your due diligence and you are sure to find one that's a good fit for you.
you can always download themes or plugins to your website.
so download it to your computer and click on add new and then upload ( up at the top).
you will be prompted to select the file - you can either drag and drop in the small box or select it.
then click on install and if it is a valid theme or plugin it will install.
then activate it.

if it is too large (>32mb) then get sitesupport to install it.
There is over 5k themes in WP available for Premium subscribers. I am sure you can still access most free plugins though.
I have always used the Studiopress/Genesis themes for blogs. So, when I joined WA I had the exact same question.
However, you are able to use any theme or plugin, once you get the Site set up.
I pick a free theme just to get started, then change it when uploaded.

Bless you, Tim! We are setting up a charity wordpress site and wish to link it to our upcoming book to raise the profile of the charity as well as run a few fundraising projects for different causes. :) so... image/functionality/speed and bells and whistles needed. Loving Maisha Zeko Pena and a few others... holy crackers... spoilt for choice for sure... however, as we have a number of requirements.. it is usually hard to find the one that does everything we need. :) we keep on chugging!

My partner and i have multiple "other" websites that we built previous to joining WA and feel that at least one of them (if not more) may need to move

I have recently transferred hosting to WA and where I have not had domains registered at namecheap I also transferred domains when they neared their renewal date.
After searching on how to do the hosting transfers I turned to WA support for help. They provided me with the following:
1. Login existing WP Dashboard.
2. Install and activate WP-Clone plugin.
3. Generate the backup.
4. Create the Free SiteRubix site from within WA Dashboard.
5. Install and activate the WP-Clone plugin.
6. Restore the site using the backup file created in the 3rd step. Consider this as a temporary website.
7. Take a look at the temporary website to see if everything has been transferred correctly.
8. Once you're sure that everything is transferred you can then point your domain to WA by setting up the following nameservers.
WA nameservers are:
ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com
9. Once you have set the nameservers, you can transfer the SiteRubix site to your main domain using the Move option from WA dashboard in the Websites Site Manager.
I did receive a few errors on some attempts to move the sites but on contacting WA support they were able to help very promptly.
