This years commitment!
This year I have committed to be courageous.
I gave a Scoutmaster minute to 30+ scouts at the beginning of 2018 and shared that I was going to work on for this year. A Scoutmaster minute is a few words of wisdom after a scout meeting given by the Scoutmaster, the adult leading the scouts. When I was done with my minute, I challenged them to find an aspect in their life that they could work on. What would you choose?
Courage is something that I feel I have always lacked in my life. Growing up with in a very quiet family, we never talked about issues with in the family, don't get me wrong, my family did not have a lot of issues, we were a very private family. I would consider us pretty normal and kinda dull. Your family is one that you should be able to talk about anything. Because I love my friends and family so much, I would never want to say anything that may hurt them or anything that they might not agree with.
I even got myself to go skydiving...

and yet not be able to tell people what I actually think! Can you believe that? I can't. I was able to take a class on jumping out of an airplane, get suited up and get inside an airplane. On the way up I thought, what am I doing here? It's a good thing I was attached so someone else, because I probably would not have jumped out of that plane by my self.
The brave gentleman that got stuck with me was great, he talked to me the whole time, calming me down. Once we were at the open doorway, man what site, I thought I was looking at a map from 10 feet off the table. Oh my gosh! Then he said "lets go" and we were out the door. Closing my eyes for the first 5-10 seconds, then everything was awesome. We glided down and around, I think we even did a corkscrew in the air, I'm glad I didn't throw up, that would have been a mess.
I can get up in front of a group and give a talk...

but I have trouble telling people my opinion for fear they may not like me. Within my scouting career of 10 years I have learned how to get up in front of people and talk. When I was younger, I would have never thought that I would ever be able to get up in front of 100 people and give a lesson.
I even learned how to go scuba diving and got certified...

and afraid saying something that may hurting someones feelings. My daughter and I went to a week-long scuba diving class. This was the toughest week I have ever had. The first day was all class work, there was a lot to learn. The remainder of the class was in the pool or in the ocean, the class was physically demanding and we were in class from 8am to 5pm, we would come home from class, eat and go straight to bed. Then get up and ready for the next day, this was tough.
Backpacking was always an idea I had wanted to do, then I got to go with some good friends and had a great time.

But when someone makes me angry,,, I have a hard time expressing my feelings. The first time I went back packing it was cool out and it was sprinkling on the way up. The trail was pretty even, there were just a few spots of incline. I was not in shape and out of breath with an over weight backpack. I felt like I was going to die. The hike was only 3 miles in, once we got there I just laid down and rested. Then we set up camp, talked about good habits of backpacking and learned more about the area. On the return trip it was colder and snowing out. I thought at the time that this was the toughest thing I had ever done.
With all the things I have done, I think it would be pretty amazing...

to have courage to speak my mind. That would be the best gift I could give myself. I am hoping that by the end of the year I will accomplish my goal to be COURAGIOUS!
I CAN DO THIS!
Who knows what else I can accomplish? A thriving business on line? Ya!! I can do that.
How about you? What would you like to accomplish this year that would help you with your business?
Please let me know,
Irene

I believe that you have the courage to say what is on your mind. You just do not want to be the one who tells everyone about the elephant in the room. With all of your other accomplishments, you will be able to do the courses here at WA. You have a whole community behind you who is willing to help you back on your feet if you should need help and who is willing to guide you through the classes if you should have a problem.
Jerry
Thanks Jerry, I can use all the help I can get. Writing content is difficult for me because, who am I to be giving advice? I am learning quite a lot of new skills her at WA. Thanks again for the pep talk!
