What is space?
As we were taught is school, Space is a three-dimensional extent where objects and events have a relative position and direction.
Do you know that although space is a three dimension, modern physics consider it to be part of a boundless four-dimensional continuum known as spacetime?
Space is considered to be of fundamental importance to an understanding of the physical Universe, or is it?
However, Philosophers continue to disagree over whether it is an Entity, a relationship between Entities or part of a conceptual framework.
What is really thought about Space?
Debates about the nature and the mode of experience of Space dates back to the the times of Timaeus, of Plato and Socrates. In Isaac Newton's view, space was absolute in the sense that it existed permanent and independently of whether or not there was/is any mater in space.
Other natural philosophers also thought that Space is in fact a collection of relations between objects, given, by their distance and direction from one another.
Later, the metaphysician (Immanuel Kant) said that the concepts of space and time are not empirical ones derived from experiences of the outside world.
What are your opinions?
I find this subject fascinating, and I wish I knew all there is to know about it.In the 19th and 20th centuries mathematicians examined geometries in which space is conceived as curved, rather than flat.
There's not much information out there about this subject and I wonder if it is because, no one knows for sure, what space really is!

Idalina, it is the final frontier according to Star Trek! (just kidding) You post some very thought-provoking questions here! Probably no good answers will be forthcoming because we simply do not know!
Jeff
Lol, it’ll get you thinking, it’s good for the brain.
You made me giggle, thank you.
Take care.

I am with Dom on this one. The vastness of space for us is unimaginable. There is no way we can be the only life forms. There is so much to learn that we do not yet know. Do we want to know? Do we want to wake up what is out in Space to our existence? Some scientists have warned about this for fear of what could be expected upon us. Others have exclaimed that we should go forth and explore with hope and opportunity. I look forward to what Space holds for us.
Hugh
Totally agree Hugh - statistics say we can't be alone but.. what if we are? Jeez but it's a big old playground out there
Heavy question - are there beings like us out there? Possibly but any living being could be some form of life that we've not had experience of before.
Just look at our ocean floor - there are some pretty inhospitable conditions down there, yet there is life. Microbes and crustaceans that live on volcanic plumes that emit sulphur - no light and crushing pressure.
There must be something out there but it might not register as 'life' as we know it, Jim
I don’t think we are alone at all, I think there’s a whole new world out there and it would be great to meet it.
Idalina
I think it's the sheer size of the spaces between everything which stuns me - they say we will crash into the Andromeda Galaxy - but it won't happen for around 4 billion years as the Andromeda has to travel 2.5 million light-years!
2.5 million light years - that's an awfully long way - light travels at around 300,000 km/second, there are 31557600 seconds in a year so light travels 9,467,280,000,000 kilometres in a year.
So, 9467280000000 x 2,500,000 is an awfully big number!
The observable universe - a sphere around Earth that our telescopes both on Earth and in space has observed is, in miles,
2,734,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
in diameter! And there's still more out there.

Hi Lina. I am also fascinated with space. But as of now I am fascinated with the space that is hugh that everyone can earn from it. Yes, it is the space for our online businesses. As grandeur is the outer space is, same can be said comparably to our space for our online/digital businesses. So much to explore. A place where we can work and earn from our home or anywhere we are. And through our WA family, I am honored to meet each one of you who are lovely to be with in the same classroom. I liked and enjoyed your post. More blessings for you my friend.
Hi Maria,
Thank you, you’re a blessed person.
Stay blessed because I love people who spread the love.
❤️
