Getting Indexed on Google

The Google Index

Hey WA Family,

I logged into my account today to find a new badge - the Google Index badge. While I honestly still don't really know what it means it sent me on a roller coaster of emotions that I want to share with you.

The Joy

My first reaction was delight. Like a high school crush who you thought didn't know of your existence smiling at you.

Awesome - google must have loved the kick ass 1900 words of content I broke my fingers typing! That's some achievement!

The Fear

Once the feeling of elation subsided, I started wondering about the implications of being indexed. Pretty sure google is sending millions of people to my WIP website :)

And the traffic is so disappointed to see the bare bone one blog with no images that they're leaving in a rush - to never return. Maybe I should put my writing on top gear and fill my site with content to satisfy the product lusting audience google is sending my way!

The Support

When in doubt turn to things you trust. First call - good ol' google itself. Google instantly told me being indexed is no biggie. In fact all sites are indexed :(

I also turned to the WA community and within 5 minutes, I had the answer to my question. Being indexed is good, but I don't need to go without sleep for the next 6 days to populate my website.

The learning

To all fellow newbies, it's great to enjoy the small victories we encounter along this journey. At the same time, it's important to maintain our sanity and work at a reasonable pace.

Things will happen - just follow the schedule and believe in yourself.

Here's wishing everyone a lot of luck - I look forward to posting about my first real lead or sale soon.

PS: I have gone through the first few thousand pages of google and still haven't found my site :)
