1. Can someone else trade mark a domain name that you created?
2. Do I have to trade mark a domain name that I created?
Interesting. Are there any members in the legal profession who may be able to give a positive answer?, As far as I am aware once your domain name has been registered it's yours providing you renew it whenever it due. Have you ever tried putting in a domain name only to be told it has already been taken?. I suppose that is trademarking to a degree.
You have to be careful here
A trademark is - a symbol, word, or words legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product.
If you obtain or have a domain name that is identical or similar to a trademark or service mark that you do not own, you may become the defendant in a lawsuit brought under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act or an arbitration procedure brought under ICANN's Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy.
Trademark owners take alleged trademark infringement very seriously and have a duty to protect their marks and to take appropriate action to prevent others from infringing their marks, more often than not the trademark owner who sends a cease and desist letter intends to follow it with an infringement lawsuit unless the alleged infringer concedes to the trademark owner's demands.
If you believe that your domain may be in conflict with any trademark - you need to check your government departments responsible for trademarks before you proceed.
Thank you for your response. Are you aware of any website that I can check if a name is trademark. There should be a site, but I don't know.

Do you know that your are very good with internet search skills. I really do appreciate your help. I wish you all the very best. Always grateful - thank you.
it's just how the mind that God gave me processes stuff. Whenever someone ask or tells me something - I don't add any of me to the request - so I don't judge or interpret (gets me in trouble sometimes)
That way I am able to give you a clear, precise and unbiased response to whatever you ask.
The domain name is yours as long as you pay for it annually. It's your own web real estate. I suppose you could trademark it, but I wouldn't. You can't bar someone from buying and using the domain name if you abandon it by failing to pay the annual fee.
I would be guessing here but I would say if the name is one you want to keep you should be able to trademark it, but I am not sure. I will be lurking also on this question. Thanks for asking it though. :)
I'm actually posting here for the same reason as Marith, this is a very interesting subject and may come in useful later, sorry I cant be of help
Someone else can but if you have built up a following and could reasonably demonstrate that you/your website would be linked with the trademark in most customers minds you may be able to contest them trademarking the name. It's a very complex subject though and if it did happen then it's something that is best discussed with a lawyer who specializes in cases involving trademarks.
You don't have to trade mark the domain name, but it may be wise a wise decision if you did. You are protected, as I said above, if you have been trading under that name before someone else decides to trademark it/trade under that name.
I'm not knowledgeable about the subject enough to go into any more depth but I hope this helps.

Here was a question I knew the answer to, but you already have the answer so that's great. :) I did not pay for it either.
No they only ask you for a freely contribution, you can skip that, I am willing to pay them freely when I am earning enough from my websites
I just sent you the answer already plus gave you the link from your last question did you not see that?
It is in your question when you asked about deleting your website you then asked me about Akismet you will find the answer and link from Kyle there.
Thanks. I went through the instruction and managed to get the key for free. Thank you once again

how to delete website that i created?
Go to siterubix you will see a red box called delete press that and that should do the job.
If you are using a http://siterubix.com domain just remember the domain name you selected will not be available any more so before you delete think twice.
As a premium member you have more that two siterubix website you can use. Perhaps it be by wiser to keep this one and you can test plugins etc on that first and create a new siterubix website with a new domain name.
Hi Apache1. Thanks for your help. I just deleted it. This help is real instance. I am glad I joined.
Just testing my ability in learning to create it.
I got now stuck with one more thing.
When I tried to get API key from Akismet, it asked me to sign up with a monthly payment of $5 per month with business. I have not done it yet. I thought I ask you first. Did you have to sign up with monthly payment with Akismet?
I don't use Akismet anymore but you can use it for free there is a section where you can slide your amount to zero then it is free.
go though this link by Kyle which will guide in the proper way to install and how to deal with avoiding payment which you don't have to pay.

Thanks so much Apache1. I just managed to get the API key and website was created successfully at this stage = I think. Thank you once again for your support

I use this one for the time being as I just got in and still learning.
I finished creating a website, but couldn't find it on google yet. I finished lesson 6. Have I not done correctly - I wonder?
Are you sure? Is it your own purchased domain, or a Siterubix URL?
If it is a domain name that you bought, you are better off just deleting the content of the site.
If it is a free Siterubx site, go to site manager, and you will see a dark pink button with a garbage can icon and the word "delete". ~Jude
You can buy domains from any domain registrar, e.g. Namecheap, GoDaddy, or whoever you decide. I buy mine at Namecheap.
You can use the search field at Namecheap to find a domain name:
https://www.namecheap.com
If you decide on Namecheap, sign up first and get an account - it's free. Then go ahead, log in, and buy a domain.
Then go to the manage domain section at Namecheap and change the DNS address to point it to WA hosting (or it may ask you to do this during the buying process). Either way is fine.
After you have purchased the domain and added the DNS address to point to WA hosting, be sure to create the Domain at WA at the link below:

Thanks so much Jude for all the information. Your help is really much appreciated. I will look into getting my own domain after learning how to get a website up and running first. At the moment I already set it up but its not running. I am upto lesson 7. Maybe I missed some information somewhere, but I will find out soon enough I hope.. thank you once again.
Hi Jude. After I buy a domain name from NameCheap - Should I get them to host as well. Or should I bring the name to register it at WA?
And how Do I transfer the name from NameCheap to WA?
I do not recommend hosting the site at Namecheap. They are a great Registrar service for buying domains, but their hosting is not so good.
Hosting is already included in the Premium membership for up to 25 owned domains and up to 25 Siterubix sites, so your most cost effective option is to change the DNS address at Namecheap to point the hosting to WA.
The links to the above training videos explain exactly how to do that when you are ready. You can transfer the Siterubix site to your own domain in one click. More training videos below:

Thanks Jude. Once I get the name at NameCheap I will get it host at WA. Is it simple to change the DNS address at NameCheap to point the hosting at WA?
Its running now.
I don't know what to do next yet. I want my own domain first, get it set up and think of what to do next.
Thank you for all your help. I clicked the Like button to your answer.
I will send you the site once I get more details in it. At the moment its embarrassing. . .
Yes, it is simple. Please watch the video links I gave you above. Of course everything is simple once you know how to do it.. ~Jude
Lol...no hurry, I'm not going anywhere.
Sure, you don't know things yet. That's why you're here. I hope you enjoy learning. :-)

I tend to agree with Harry. I am pretty sure that if you tried to use a trademarked name, it wouldn,t show up as available choice.
Yep. Thanks Gordi
