I'm On My Way......

.....from Misery to Happiness today ' ...

How are you all going, good I hope , I'm going faster than one of these bullet trains over here myself, thanks for asking....

Anyway I've moved along a little since my last blog and have (finally) worked out how I'm putting this jigsaw together.

The only thing is I need a little advice on www.energysavers.siterubix.com ..Now before you go and have a look .. Let me make one thing perfectly clear ...

I want constructive criticism ...ie.

  • Is it easy enough to follow .. I can sometimes get up in the technical clouds and need someone to grab me by the ankle and pull me down ...gently
  • My plan is to tabulate appliances and attach them as a page 3 ..is a table too silly an idea .. eg Iron - 1200watts - 30mins - .6kwh/day - $0.29 - $0.17c per day .... that type of style or is there another gadget or training I should have done
  • My colored items will be linked to my review page which will be linked to (some) affiliated products ... is this ok ... or do I lead them to my 'suppliers export website' www.shenzhenenertech.siterubix.com where I have my solar, LED lights and other products
  • Oh and can I change my 'siterubix' domain before I make it live ( I stuffed up a bit with my selection)
  • and with my mothers day site www.giftshopformum.siterubix.com can I just have product reviews with affiliate links or do you think I need a 'capture page'
  • and am I allowed to co-own (silent type partner) a website which is www.chinabyfashion.siterubix.com .. it's one of my friends over here site which we will probably launch after the weekend .. is that inside WA laws

General feedback is also appreciated .. but I have been spending the past week trying to map all this out and I would like someone's opinion please.

Thanks in advance

ok, I think I found something that might help.

It's a plugin I found ages ago and I just found it again for you.
It might, just might save you some time.

you can add your own to the 'findthebest' site (it's socially driven and populated) and then embed what you want in your site.

I really did enjoy reading what you have set up. I left you a comment. There is only one thing I did not care for and it definitely my opinion only.
This sentence I did not care for, especially after reading such well written material
I outlined the above, not to bore you, but to give you an insight in the fact that I am qualified enough to give you honest advice about ways to save electricity and information you can use in and around your home or office or work space. I haven’t just picked up a book and become an overnight expert.

I would have preferred something more like. As you can ascertain from above, I am quite qualified to provide you with honest ......

And leave out the very last sentence. I haven't just picked up...

I think the difference to me is sounding qualified vs defensive.

I hope I have not offended you, but your qualifications speak for themselves! Tria

G'day Tria, thanks for that. I was going to start half light hearted (life's too short to be serious), but after reviewing some of the opposition I decided the public need someone to cut to the chase and give something they could use (leave the heater off and put an extra blanket on Ha!).. that's why I put this up now to make sure I was heading in the right direction.
The last line is meant to be read in a deep, gravelly, sarcastic type way, but I'm here to take advice and I thank you.

I will re-read it with the appropriate deep, gravelly, sarcastic way!

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the embedded song which I will no doubt have for the rest of the day!

-So far it's easy enough to follow. You just need something on your 'landing page', and maybe a blog post or two. You have a great writing style and you've already done some here on WA, so get going on your more public sites.
-A table is a great visual for products, especially if there are comparisons involved.
-I would say you could have links to affiliate products and to your own supplier website (will you have a shopping cart on that one).
-MothersDayGifts - I think that's the idea here - website, content, traffic, products being purchased on affiliate sites.
-last point - you'd have to check with the experts but myself, I wouldn't have even thought to ask. Only one will have it in your list of sites but the other could have access to the site as an admin user. (best to create a new one)

Enjoy :-)

Thanks Grace for your input, I'll get some shut eye and have a look at those sites. I thought about a shopping cart , but that's another thing I have to research yet ... I'm getting there. Thanks again.

Shane,

I think getting someone to create a list of appliances around the house is a great one. Now, perhaps stretching technology in wordpress, you could get them to enter the info into an online table to which you then match a more energy efficient item review. This will then lead onto the purchase site. Might need to hire a coder for this.

Do get your own domain. Its a great idea and one that I think could fly.

On the energysavers site find a single image rather than repeating the PV cell photo. The duplicated photo is distracting from the great text.

good luck,

David

Thanks for that David. The Solar was one of my installations that I had done but I was playing with the 'tiling effect' . Thanks for your input.

HI Shane, nice website on electricity. Now I know how to calculate the cost/kw Hr., something I never bothered to learn before. Will check the others out soon.

Thanks Jen
