Need Advice on a Niche
I'm thinking of exploring a "proofreading" niche to help writers with grammar and spelling for their web content, especially people for whom English is a second language. I checked JAAXY and found some "low hanging fruit" and thought I'd also get some feedback from WA members. Do you think a website catering to this niche sounds viable?

Have you noticed as I have, (without being harsh or offensive to anyone) that there are a volume of new sites, abound with spelling and punctuation errors? With regards to your idea, it sounds great! BUT, if the posters in question can't be bothered to do simple spell checks on their own work, do you think they'll go the extra mile by going to another website to research what they've written, HOPING to find something in their post that needs correcting???
I have edited business websites before as a freelance copywriter and even they have grammatical errors. It may be harder for individuals so I'll need to be more persuasive.
It is a competitive niche but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. I think you should have a think about what will make you different. :) Beverley
That's funny brokwebb :) I know what you mean. If there was no such thing as spellchecker I would look like a complete illiterate!
I read a blog once written by someone who had owned a profitable online proofreading business. He would charge college students a certain free to proofread their work. I'm not sure exactly how you are planning to tackle this niche, but there is money in it.

I am one of the potential users but unfortunately for you or fortunately for me I have bigger goals. I wish to become independent in this language. :)
Keep punching the jelly.
