DRIVEN TO SUCCEED
First of all, let me apologize for being a little cryptic. I kinda did that intentionally. Don't you just love a good cliff hanger? We'll, let's start from the beginning...

I was on my way to work a couple Sunday mornings ago when my car suddenly lost power. It abruptly downshifted on its own and slowly began coming to a stop. Fortunately, there was an intersection up ahead and I was able to steer the car into the right turning lane, pull over and park with enough room in front of me for a tow truck to position itself in front to hook it up to be hauled out of there.

Since I was a member of Auto Club, I had no problem getting service on this fine Sunday morning. After calling for roadside assistance and calling my work to let them know I wouldn't be in, I waited for help to arrive. Fortunately, they didn't need me desperately at my job and told me it was okay to take the day off to deal with the car trouble and they would reschedule me for another shift later in the week. Gotta love that flexibility :-)

It only took about 20 minutes for the driver to show up. As he approached my vehicle, his truck burst a hose, spraying water for a hundred feet behind him. Great, Now my tow truck needed a tow

The driver was very amicable and immediately called another tow company for me whose truck was just finishing up with another stranded motorist around the corner, at least I didn't have to wait much longer.

I jumped in the cab of the tow truck while the driver secured my car and I had him drive it to my usual service garage. It being Sunday, I expected they;d be closed so I would just have him leave it in their lot and I'd phone and leave a voicemail so they could address the problem the following day. But SURPRISE, SURPRISE... they were open! They said they would look at it and get back to me later in the day. The tow truck driver then gave me a lift home. After that is about when all of my good luck began to vanish.

The service center called me later to tell me that it's an electrical problem and, "...we don't do electrical work." Oh, great. Just what I needed to hear. NOT. I asked if i could just leave it there till the next day and I would have it towed back to my house. I figured I could find a mobile mechanic to fix the car in my driveway.

The following day, i reluctantly had the car towed for the second time in two days. You know the Auto Club frowns on using them for too many tows during a single year.... never mind that you pay for years before you even call them for assistance even once. And here I was, probably in their eyes, making for lost time.

That's okay. I got the car home and now I had to figure out what to do with this beast. In the meantime, I had to make arrangements to get to work because I could see I wasn't going to have the car fixed in time. So, i called a lady friend of mine (we'll call her Marsha).

This led to another conversation that lead me to title this blog, DRIVEN TO SUCCEED.

Can't wait to hear the rest.

Well, so far it has been driven to frustration, Hal :))

Trust me, it gets much better. There will be a great payoff, i promise.
