I'm not a fan of adding ads.

I don't like the idea of adding ads onto my site. I've always felt that they're a litte invasive... Does anyone else feel the same way?

When people come to my site, I want them to feel at ease and able to go around my site without too many popups and ads distracting them, so they can focus on what's important- getting the help that they need. And they are more focused on the review or product that they could potentially buy.

Plus with new google algorithms changing so often, you never know when ads and links are going to get hit HARD! I have been reading a lot about it, and I don't see much positive about ads, except you may or may not get a monetary gain from it.

I know we are supposed to be experiment with it. I may play around with it in the future, but I just don't feel like right now is a good choice.

Any thoughts on this? Am I just being stubborn?

You'll always find that text links will outperform banner ads on your pages, but text links perform better when there is a banner ad for the same product on the page.

You don't have to place ads everywhere. I do think that they add some color and energy to a page, instead of just one long strip of copy broken up by an occasional picture. Remember, it is your site, you are in control, you can have as few ads or as many as you want.

I never thought about color and energy, you're certainly right in that aspect! Thanks for the encouragement

I'm with you on preferring to see no ads. My biggest hangup is when the ads pretty much pop up in front of my face and then it's hard to find the "X" to get rid of them. I will leave a site if it has overwhelming ads.

I'm not saying to not use ads. I myself am testing them out on one of my sites to see if they are successful and not intrusive.

I am all about testing and seeing what works for you! Not being able to find the "X" is one of my biggest gripes too. As long as they aren't pop up ads, they aren't too terrible

I guess there are exceptions but I also feel that people are now more used to seeing the adds and it doesn't bother them.

They simply ignore or enjoy the adds...

This is true, but internet culture has adapted to use use "ad blockers" like myself, and have it on most of the time. However, I'm not sure 100% what types of ads it blocks because I still see a few every now and then
