Traffic Tips: How To Find Out Which Keywords a Website is Ranking For
Sometimes it's important to figure which keywords a competitor's website is ranking for.
Let's say you know that they have a reasonably weak domain authority and they are ranking for a keyword "what does number 1111 mean".
That means, that if your site is of a similar or better authority, then you have a decent chance of ranking on Page 1 for that keyword as well.
Free Tool to Reverse-Lookup Competitor RankingsYesterday, I discovered that there's a free tool that helps you do precisely that.
UberSuggest (not an affiliate link) allows you to reverse-engineer which keywords your competitors are ranking for.
Here is how it works. Simply plugin the domain name into UberSuggest and choose the target language for your search:
And it will show you which keywords this domain is currently ranking for:
How Can You Use This?I used to use tools such as SEMRush and AHRefs for this function (and still do), however those tools are paid and expensive.
UberSuggest is free to use so it's really suitable to those who are on a budget when first starting out.
Here is how you can use this information to your maximum benefit:
- Find out what your own domain authority is (you can use a free Moz account for that)
- Find some competitor websites that are competing for similar topics in search results
- Check your competitor domain authority and pick out a competitor whose domain authority is similar to yours (you can use the Moz Toolbar to bulk-check all domain info for a search result)
- Analyze that domain using UberSuggest
- Check which keywords they are ranking for
- Create content on those same keywords
Using this tactic, you should be able to hit Page 1 of Google more predictably.
What Do You Think? That's it for my first blog post here at Wealth Affiliate!
Let me know what you think about this tool, and what else you'd like to know more about, and I'd be happy to share what I know.
