An Affiliate Program is requesting to verify ownership of my domain through "adding a meta tag" or "adding a new HTML page" to my domain.

A few members at Wealthy Affiliate have provided lessons and training. The recommendations I have encountered are:

1. Create a Child Theme
2. FTP using File Zilla
3. Add the code directly to the Header

There are different ways to verify a website for an affiliate. Which one is the best and safest?

Thanks,
Kristy

I created a blog if you want to try to copy it in the Theme header or as Marion said you can look for a plugin here is the blog

Normally the code is simple code if you know how to paste it to the header of your theme. You don't have to do the (1) and (2).

It looks very simple. If I do it incorrectly what can happen?

Use the headers and footers plugin to add the code to the head safely. Some other methods could break your website if you don't know exactly what you're doing. This video should help with using the plugin

Thank you Marion. I am mortified to break my website. I started creating a Child Theme and when I got to Publish I stalled and didn't move on. I will look at the video! Thank you!

Thank you Vicki! I got to the page and saw the code where the Header is, I'm just so scared to screw anything up. I've gotta get over this though if I want to add other Affiliate Programs to my website.
