A Pot Hole Many Haven't Ever Seen - Take A Look

I'm here because I want my own online business. I'm not afraid of the hard work it takes to have it. I am and will continue to work through the lessons. I will put in the hours to learn and apply it knowing it will eventually come to fruition.

One day I will have the financial means to live the lifestyle I choose. I've counted the costs.

The one thing I know from my past experiences is this: Things Change - It's Inevitable.

Coming from a background with a lower middle class income if I made a step to improving my lot in life I would get all kinds of grief from friends and family. When I would tell them I wanted to soar with the eagles of this world; I was asked by some if I thought I was better than they were now that I didn't have as much time to spend with them as before because of new pursuits. And so on and so forth.

Can you relate?

As I have traveled the road to success I have encountered many pot holes to overcome. Many here are familiar with the Fear of Failure. Some have commented on it here at WA. Some are building a very successful business around the kind of training it takes to lick these obstacles springing from lack of personal development.

May I ask you if you have ever considered that The Fear of Success is a fellow passenger along this journey? Most have never even heard of it.

It's the fear we have that keeps us from taking the next step to improvement and the ability to achieve our goals. I say this because I've gone through it.

When friends would say the things I mentioned above, I had a decision to make. I could stay in association with them and abandon my goals or I leave them sit with their thoughts and the lifestyles they had chosen.

Now I'm not saying that I never see them. And when I do I'm always polite and courteous, but I don't let them sway me from the path I've chosen

Finally I simply ask you to take a moment and do some introspection. Could this be the pot hole you have hit that is detouring you from achieving all you want to accomplish?

All The Best

People will only say negative things about you to justify there way of life.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I heard it all when I went to college and mostly when I was going beyond a Bachelors degree. I supposedly thought I was better than everyone else. I just wanted more!

You're right. It's not that you don't see these people, it just that they don't get to define your goals or rule your life. ~Debbi

Hi Debbi, glad you can relate. Thanks for dropping in and adding your comments! Always welcome. ~Gaylon

Only you can do your journey and do not let anyone take it from you just keep working on your business

You can't let anyone pee on your parade. If you are trying to improve yourself in any way whether it's making money, losing weight, or whatever it it YOUR BUSINESS and nobody else's. Sure some will give you a hard time but ignore those folks and keep your nose to the grindstone. One day when you're successful and they see you're the same person you used to be they'll be sorry they didn't try to join you in your ventures.
BTW I call those people the nattering nabobs of negativism ( from Spiro Agnew)

Hi Dave, thanks for dropping by and the comment. Good advise my friend.

BTW: I think, like most politicians Mr. Agnew lifted this line from The Wizard of Oz in the scene where he is passing out the requests made by Dorothy and her new friends. If I remember correctly he was addressing the Scarecrow. All the Best! ~Gaylon

What you have to say will resonate with a lot of people. There will always be those who want to bring people down and are jealous of them succeeding in life. Keep focused and ignore the negatives :)

Thanks for the comments Jude. You are always welcome ! ~Gaylon

You ever heard of a thing called jealousy?:-):-)
These friends should be working on their own lives, as they see you working on yours.....
Don't let it stop you.
It's a barometer that you're setting up for success.
All the famous achievers write about this phenomenon.
Head up, you couldn't be on a "righter" track!!!!!
Kind Regards
Therese

Thanks Theresa, you put a smile on my face. Come by any time! ~Gaylon

Thank you Gaylon! The same to you........

Ed Haynes, an internet millionaire and I were having drinks at the Shamrock Inn Bar in Houston Tx. My company, Custom Software Unlimited had its first million dollar year. Ed was working on his best seller book 'You have My Permission to Succeed '. There were 6 of us at the table and we were taking turns buying rounds of drinks for the whole bar. A guy came up and wanted to sit with us. he started asking us what did we do to earn a living. we all gave comedic responses because none of us thought what we did was actually work. He stayed around for a couple of years until he finished his business administration degree. Then he started working at a liquor store. Two years later he owned that liquor store. His name is AL Jaques.

Great story Izpo, it illustrates my point perfectly. Thanks for sharing! ~Gaylon

I don't bother to tell anyone. Most people look at you as if you just said " I am going to live off my lottery winnings that I might win one day"

Hi Mary thanks for sharing, Much of the time we don't have to say anything. Although the lottery winnings would be nice I would miss the feeling of accomplishment I derive from building something on my own. ~Gaylon

You make a very good point Gaylon. Sometimes our good friends and family members can cause our thinking to be a" pot hole" and obstruct our progress.
You are right to keep your friends but keep a negativity shield and know they don't mean it personally they are just not ready to change their own thinking.
It is a battle to keep the good thoughts and the more we hear from like minded affiliates the easier it is to keep a good mindset.
I was away due to circumstances and getting back has helped my mindset tremendously.
Have a great weekend,

Marty

Thanks Marty, I love your thoughts on the matter, they are always appreciated! Don't play too hard :) ~Gaylon

Gaylon,
I know I have struggled with what others think of me when I say I want better than what I currently have in life!
I know some say you will never make it and others actually laugh at me.
I will make this work and I am not afraid of hard work either!
You are an inspiration to me!
Thanks
Sheila

Thanks for the kind words Sheila, everyone who had reached any modicum of success has faced this momentum robber. With you absolve you are going far. I am blessed you find my ramblings helpful. :) ~Gaylon
