Don't Keep Passwords and Usernames on Your Computer!
Do you worry about having your private information stolen?
I think we all do! I actually keep all of my passwords, business sites, etc. on a flash drive. I make sure to update/copy a second flash drive every couple of days.
This accomplishes a couple of things. I don't have all of that important information stored ANYWHERE on my computer, so hackers don't have access to it.When I use the flash drive to log into a website, I immediately unplug the flash drive. If my information is stolen, it will be stolen from the website (bank, credit union, or whatever) I'm going to, not from my computer. I keep my flash drive with me, so if I need to use a friend or relatives computer, the information is easily available.
What if your computer crashes? ( HINT: They all do eventually)
If (when) my computer crashes, I have my most important information on the flash drive. If my computer crashed today, I would have access to my most important information without having a heart attack because of the stress. I keep many of my important scanned documents (drivers license, insurance papers, etc) on a different flash drive in my bank deposit box. You never know when you might need that info, too. All of those documents are kept in PDF format so it's easy to open the files on a different computer. Most people have Adobe Reader.
Here's what I do to put these important websites onto my flash drive:
1. I've made up folders for different types of sites I like to visit: Banks, Medical sites, etc.
(right click,then new,then folder)
2. I will open the folder I want to add a website to
3. Go to the website I want to add and copy the address of the login page
4. Go back to my folder, right click on an open space and choose NEW, then shortcut
5. Paste the login page into the create shortcut box
6. On the next box give it a description: Bank of America login, Wealthy Affiliate login, etc.,

Good solution to an ever increasing problem. I never thought of an important personal documents flash drive in the bank lock box. Thanks!
So how true Gary. But sometimes even flash drives crash too. The way I do it is put them on a file then print it and the store them in a secure place and delete that file

Another good idea Kennyb.
That's why I have important documents (birth certificates, kids shot records, deeds, etc) kept in PDF format on a flash drive in the bank deposit box. As far as passwords, usernames, etc. go, I keep 2 flash drives up to date at least every 2 days or so with the exact same information. They are kept in 2 different locations. If one is lost or crashes, it's pretty easy to access the second one and put it on a new flash drive. Also, if one of the flash drives is lost, I can immediately go to my important sites, change the passwords and make a new copy of the updated flash drive.

Information I want to protect on my computer goes in 1Password. 1Password encrypts everything you store in it. I also use Roboform. Both programs have advantages, but I like 1Password best.
I live by Evernote and it can encrypt any information you want encrypted.
