The Hacker in Me
This post is about persistence and … my father.
Today is my last day in Budapest, I have been spending time with my family and some friends, got cooked in the tropical heat.
My father lives alone and one of his hobbies is surfing on the internet, searching for old films and songs that he downloads. He was the one who showed me some years ago, how to download torrent files! I admire him for his open-minded personality!
Three weeks ago his very old computer broke down, since then we could not talk via Skype or write emails. I bought him now a new desktop. He took it home so proud and happy! The plan was, that I would help him to configure Windows for the first time and offered him to show, how Widows 10 worked. It is an easy task that my father was able to complicate that way, that we got stuck for 2 days.
The setup process asked for the secondary email in order to send there the validation code. We just needed to enter in this email site and check there that message.
He forgot his password!
OK, no problem, I clicked on the “Forgot your password?” option and a tertiary email address has been shown. My father got surprised and told me that he would not remember anymore of that third email address nor of its password… Well it was already on the second day.
He showed me a little book where he had been written all of his passwords, where we could not find the correct ones, so I had to try to find out, which one of the available options could it be, and believe me, there were a lot!
I looked at my father. He was sitting next to me, his head between his hands, moaning that we would never resolve this problem.
The last weeks have influenced me that way, that I thought: Why should we give up? There is a solution and I am able to find it! After a half an hour I cracked my father´s password and we could continue the setup process!
You should have seen the happy face of my father!
This example showed me that I am on the right path to success, because I can arrange enough faith and persistence to go until the end! I CAN resolve everything! If not alone, then with some help. The achievement is that counts!
And here it is... My father´s happy face and the new desktop!
Can you believe that he is already 74?
I´m back in business soon.
Until then, take care and work smart!
Gabriella

Hi Sue, Thank you for reading and commenting my post! Yes, in WA among such amazing fellows is far easier to achieve everything what we want!
Thank you Steve! I am sure, if my father would speak English he would have a blog about his favourite films and songs to share his passion with the world. You are an excellent example of this!
