How to chose the best colors for your site?
As a future StyleCoach©, I need to be aware of colors and their correct use.
There is another important aspect of colors. They are also extremely important in marketing and of course in content marketing, as they transmit feelings influencing unconsciously your audience. With correctly chosen colors you can make a bigger impact in terms of content sharing.
I found a very interesting and detailed article about colors (color theory, color combinations, color psychology, etc.).
Did you know that women see more colors and detect easier slight differences between them than men? They prefer different colors than men. This fact you can/should consider when working on your site to make it even more appealing for your target group.
Here is a short foretaste of this article (which colors men and women prefer most):
Blue is the favored color for both men (57%) and women (35%), though it is more heavily favored by men.
Men dislike browning the most while women dislike orange the most.
Colors that were disliked were also seen as “cheap.”
Men tolerate achromatic colors (i.e. shades of grey) better.
Women preferred tints while men preferred pure or shaded colors.
A majority of men (56%) and women (76%) preferred cool colors in general.
Orange and yellow grow increasingly disliked as both genders get older.
Here you can find the link to the full article (explained also what are tints and shades):

And how I came to this site?
It was Paul (Goodwin) who wrote about the Headline Analyzer. This is a free resource on the www.coschedule.com site where you can get lost in uncountable interesting and useful posts/articles about internet and content marketing. The above-mentioned article is a great example.
Last week Paul also wrote about the colors (probably) based on the same article. Accidentally, I realized it later. :(
Please consider this blog post as additional information and a different perspective, not as copying or stealing information!
Thanks Paul for calling my attention to this valuable source of information!
I hope that these facts help you to optimize your blogs and make them much more engaging to your audience!
P.S. According to the Headline Analyzer, the headline of this post has a score of 79! :)
Be creative and productive!

Great post. I really like colors. In fact my favorite is pink. I think the bright orange is popular right now with women. I like it! I love blue also. Coral is awesome.
Hi Cynthia, I share your enthusiasm, colors are great fun! We can use them for so many things, so why not to use them on our sites to generate more popularity and traffic? Thanks for reading and commenting!
Thank you, Suzi! I am glad that you found my post interesting! Colors are wonderful and we can tell so many things using them!
Hi Brian, Thanks for reading! If you or anyone else can apply something of this and it will work, then I know, that it was worth to publish this post!
Thanks, Linda! You as an artist know even better than me, how colors can influence us. Thanks for reading and commenting!
Yes, I haven't had time to check out the link yet, but many thoughts ran through my mind as I read your post. It will be interesting to see if my thoughts are the same on color as the other author.
Thanks for sharing. It is intriguing about the meanings of color. And how colors are used in marketing.
Many decades ago, my dad worked as a salesman in the food and restaurant business. He was the first person to teach me about colors used in restaurants.
I asked him why a chain restaurant uses bright orange and hot pink for their color decor. He explained that the bright colors attract people to the restaurant but then, after awhile the bright colors will get on people's nerves. This restaurant wanted to attract customers but wanted quick turnover so that they can serve more people at mealtimes.
My dad took me to lunch at that restaurant so that we can test the colors on ourselves. It was true, I liked the bright colors at first but right we after we finished eating our meal, I was ready to leave.
So, next time you eat at a restaurant, look around at the decor and the color scheme. If it is bright orange and hot pink, time yourself as to how long you linger over your dessert and coffee. :)
What a great story, Myra! Thanks for sharing it, it completes my post! Well, I have another shocking one about Ryanair. When I travelled them for the first time, from Portugal to Germany, about 2,5 hours it was a real torture to my eyes. The inside of the plane was bright, aggressive YELLOW! I am asking, why? You know the answer if you read the full article. :)
Perhaps they didn't read the negative effects of yellow. Perhaps, they wanted everyone to be happy, cheerful and optimistic while flying on their plane. :)
Thank you, Rosa! Always a little piece of the puzzle that provides us one day the whole picture...
Thanks, Janice! To be color blind is a real challenge in the everyday life... There are so many beautiful things to enjoy! I am sure, that you both compensate this on the emotional level!

I am a great fan of colors and they are attractive for marketing in their own right...the adult coloring book craze. My favorite actually has always been yellow, though for web display purposes it needs to be highlighted from a white background.
Thanks for your contribution Michael! In fact, you cannot ignore yellow and it depends on its shade, how we can use it for the best impact. Our favorite colors really show our personality. Have a great day!
