Wp-DBManager

My dashboard was very slow to open and when I goggled it said that whatever correction we make to the website all saved up each time and the folder will get big , thus slows down the webpage. Suggestion was to down load two plug ins wp-optimize and wp-db manager.

I have installed Wp-DBManager to optimize the website. There is a message in my dashboard in Red saying "Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public" and to correct... "To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /home1/florex/public_html/wp-content/backup-db"

Dashboard is fast but I have no clue as to where to find the .htaccess file. Any help as to how to set this up.

Actually goggle is a better name, seems to refer to those who goggle and oogle our personal business

I am not a techie. Thank the Lord for techhound and all the others who answer our pleas for help. Do you think google minds that you called them goggle? :)

There are lot of great people here to help, wendy, techound, rich labman.....I cam keep naming a lot, they all helped me a lot in the past three weeks. .....thanks guys.....

Hey Darleen and Rexton, thank you both for the kind words. Helping people is what this site is all about. People truly are here to help in anyway they can. I have asked for help and received what I needed as well.

It should be in the root of your WordPress installation.

Another option is to deactive wp Db manager when you are not using it unless wp-optimize needs it to always be active. I am assuming wp optimize is going to use the interface of wp db manager to delete certain those saved history posts. Once it's done deleting I don't think you would need it to be activated anymore. Deactivating removes the requirement of having to move the .htaccess file.

It is stupid of me....I am trying to find the "blessed" root file since morning.......Can you suggest the step by step as to what to do....if you can please.....thanks

You'll need to use FTP for this. I am going to assume you are using a WA hosted site. Please tell me if that is not the case.

This is on the server side of your FTP program which is usually the right hand panel.
1. Log into your site with FTP
2. Look for a folder called httpdocs and double click on it.
3. Look for the wp-content folder and double click on it.
4. Double Click on the plugins folder
5. Double click on wp-dbmanager folder
6. There you should see the .htaccess file.
7. Here's where it gets a bit tricker. Drag that .htaccess file one level up. This will be denoted by a directory with .. and no name associated with it.
8. Double click on that .. directory to move one level up.
9. That .htaccess that you moved should be there. Drag it to the next level up. Same instructions with respect to the .. directory.
10. Double click on .. directory to go one level up.
11. You should now be in the wp-content directory.
12. Move that .htaccess file to the backup-db directory

Actually, I just thought of an easier way. Go through the same steps to get to the .htaccess file. Transfer that down to your PC. Delete it from the server side. Go to the directory wp-content/db-manager. Then transfer it from the pc to the server. Sometimes us tech geeks like to create more work for people :)

Thanks a lot techhound........I will do it right away.......thanks again, I really appreciate it
