Yesterday A System Tested This 64-Year-Old Dinosaur… And Somehow I Survived 😄

Yesterday I had to complete one of those modern online assessments.

You know the kind.

The ones quietly deciding whether you still belong in today’s digital world… or whether you should be displayed in a museum somewhere between a floppy disk and a fax machine. 😄

Honestly, I expected smoke coming out of my laptop halfway through the process.

Instead, something rather funny happened.

Apparently, this old dinosaur survived.

Not only survived, but according to the results, my English score ended up higher than my own native language.

Which is honestly one of the weirdest things I’ve seen in a while.

Dutch, my actual mother tongue:
80%

English:
85%

And the funniest part?
100% spelling in English.

Somewhere deep inside the system, an AI was probably sitting there completely confused:
“Wait… this man is Dutch, right?” 😄

Now here’s the interesting part.

A lot of people think modern technology belongs to younger generations only.

AI.
Video editing.
Prompt engineering.
Online business.
Content creation.
YouTube.
SEO.

As if curiosity suddenly expires after the age of 40.

But maybe the real difference today is not age at all.

Maybe it’s willingness to keep learning.

I see people in their twenties already mentally retired from learning new things.
And I also see people in their sixties experimenting with AI tools, building websites, flying drones, editing videos, and reinventing themselves completely.

That difference has nothing to do with birth year.

It has everything to do with mindset.

The world is changing ridiculously fast right now.
Faster than many people feel comfortable with.

And yes, AI can feel overwhelming sometimes.
Even I occasionally stare at my screen wondering whether I’m using technology… or whether technology is slowly using me. 😄

But here’s the thing:

Most of us grew up during enormous technological shifts already.

We saw cassette tapes disappear.
Then CDs.
Then MP3 players.
Then streaming.

We watched television evolve from giant wooden furniture into phones people carry in their pockets.

We survived dial-up internet.
Which honestly should qualify anyone for psychological resilience awards. 😄

So maybe adapting again is not that strange after all.

Maybe the biggest mistake people make is believing:
“I’m too old for this.”

Because the moment curiosity dies, growth usually dies with it.

And honestly?
I don’t believe humans were designed to stop learning.

Not at 30.
Not at 50.
Not at 64.

Yesterday, a digital assessment accidentally reminded me of something important:

The brain ages far slower than fear does.

And sometimes the only thing standing between somebody and a completely new future… is the decision to stay curious one more time.

Even if an online system still secretly thinks you belong next to the dinosaurs. 😄
