Hi Everyone,

I am not tech savvy at all, so there are things I need help with to get my site the way I'd like it.

1. Right now I am using a simple theme because it was the only one I could get to have the banner I like across the top, but the simple theme is stopping me from doing other things. I need help installing another theme that can still use the banner across the top.

2. I need a footer. Again, this simple theme doesn't allow for a footer.

3. I need help setting up the SEO framework (Level 1- Lesson 6) because I know I have it wrong as it didn't matching the teaching in the videos.

4. How do I create a table of contents within an article?

Open to any other suggestions that will make the site more professional and well-received by readers. I can pay for the help.

Thanks,
Alicia

Hi Alicia
For someone who says "I am not tech savvy at all" you've already achieved a great deal! I like the look for your site!
Your site does have a footer ... perhaps customising is limited?
What exactly is the theme you are using?

Hi Richard,

There is no footer and it says in that one doesn't come with this theme (there is a copyright thing at the bottom of the page but no footer).

The Theme is SimpleBasics.

Having looked at your site before making comment, there is a footer which contains a copyright notice. That of course does not mean that you have access to it via your theme.

I guess I don't get access to it then because it says right in the backend that this theme doesn't come with a footer, so I just assumed the copyright thing isn't called a footer, but either way, I can't do anything down there which stinks.

Hi Alicia
Your theme does allow you to add to, and amend the existing footer.
If you go to Customise / Widgets ... you'll find it.
If you need more help ... just ask.

for the table of contents then maybe watch richardgb's training
it is worth going ot the block editor if you haven't already... or using easy table of contents plugin, but only when your posts exceed 1500 or 2000 words...
in your conclusions i would highlight the words of whether you recommend or not and maybe colour them green or red or amber....
but the layout, i agree with Diane, it is clean and uncluttered....
you have analytics installed, via monster insights, but at least it is there...
it looks like you have the all in one seo plugin installed...
don't add another seo plugin unless you want to change it....
with the seo framework it is a pain to import the last meta data...
i would stick with all in one if you like it...
but themes i would recommend are blocksy or kadence....
and if you go to the block editor add kadence blocks and generateblocks plugins to add very useful blocks...
i wish you well on your journey..
phil
try the other themes on a test site first to have a play with them ...copy some of your content across to have something to use to test it, but don't activate the seo plugin...
and if you can add a featured image to your posts....

Before you change your theme - is free your free sitesubix.com website being used? If not use it to try some themes. Also you can do a google search "your theme name + demo{". Usually you can find help your theme name documentation or Youtube has help in setting up a theme too. We use Astra. It has a lot of bells and whistles and may be hard to learn. BUT we didn't have technical background and decided this is part of setting up our online business and we spent time watching videos till be learned how to make changes. Yourtube videos are most helpful for theme setup and customization.

Here is Kyles video for setting up SEO Framework. Table of Contents plugins can be found by going to plugins Add new plugin Table of content. install and activate.(sometimes table of contents can do things that you are not expecting.)

Hi - we are not allowed to offer paid services to other members, but plenty of people will be willing to help for free. Abie has started you off with some suggestions.

To be honest, I like the look of your site as it is. It is clean and tidy, uncluttered and easy to navigate. The focus should always be on your content.

And don't forget you have a mentor, Tim, who is one of the most successful members here. I am sure he will be happy to help, you can send him a private message at any time.

Hi

To change your theme, here is what to do.

You may go to Appearance > Themes and add new.

Input what you are looking for, install and activate.

Your content will be left intact, you may lose out on CSS styles and social media icons if that, however with a bit of tweaking and you are done.

We always recommend you leaving a back up theme, you may od with the Twenty TwentOne.

Hope this helps

The Seo framework

https://theseoframework.com/docs/seo-plugin-setup/ https://theseoframework.com/docs/improve-your-pages/ https://theseoframework.com/docs/ https://theseoframework.com/docs/seo-data-migration/ You can use the Ad Inserter plugin, as you do not want to edit your themes files directly as you will lose your changes when the theme updates or if you change your theme. How to insert code for Google Analytics

AIO SEO > General Settings > Webmaster tools tab > Add the “whole code” to the miscellaneous verification section and save changes.

Then I go here http://gachecker.com/ verify my tracking code is working.

WA recommends the SEO framework.

However if you are already using AIOSEO, then you can carry on using. as perhaps you may want to have a new niche site, you may then use the SEO framework, save messing up site (Kyle's recommendation).

You may also see Kyle’s comment on below resource discussion thread ========================

You can use Easy table of Contents plugin

And you do not need to pay :)
