Hello all,
I had a question about blogs and affiliate marketing. I am starting a new blog in the gardening space and I wondered what the mix of blog posts with affiliate
I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO MONITISE MY SITE AS SOON AS I COULD AS WITHOUT THE AMAZON AFF I COULD NOT REALLY PUT ANY REVIEWS UP ON THE SITE :-))
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT THOUGH, THAT IS JUST WHAT I DID XOXOO TO YOU AND YORUS ERIC
To start from the end. To apply for Amazon affiliate status you will need to have some traffic and content in the site. So do not rush it is in your interest. Without traffic there are no sales and they cancel the status if you do not make sales in 6 months.
As for the rest, everybody will give toy different answers. There are so many people here who have only product reviews.
Good afternoon to you Eric. In the training, it is understood no more than two affiliate links per post. Obviously the longer the post the better, but I would suggest to also include internal links to your other post for good SEO purposes.
When I first started IM back in 2006 the rule of thumb was to wait before monetizing until you had a minimum of 200 unique website visitors per month. Monetize - meaning anything from AdSense to your own products. These were our guidelines from SBI (SiteBuildIt) and these sites were not Wordpress websites.
Today is different in that we are using Wordpress websites where anyone can have a platform online doing anything. So my opinion is you can start with affiliate links immediately.
Good question, I hope I answered your question.

Hello, I was wondering how I could tell on what page of Google my website is located at.
Also try: http://whatpageofsearchamion.com/ - for a quick way to check
But don't worry if it's a new site. It's probably going to take a while to get ranked high up on Google.
Hi Eric. This depends what keyword you are trying to optimize in the search engines for your home page. You can then have different posts or pages optimized for other keywords. You'll want to know where each of these are ranking.
Here's a free website to help you determine that:

I want to do some niche sites about ornamental plants and gardening and I was having trouble finding pictures that were free to use.
Hi Eric
see the attached images
under any licence dropdown select "commercial use allowed"
Try pixabay, pixabay.com. Don't use the top row as they are not free. These show on every page and have a watermark Shutterstock on them.
Thanks Helen, I did try them. It is a nice site but I could not find specific pictures of the trees and shrubs I would like to blog about.
There was a recent post on how to set up Google Chrome images to do this. I am trying to find it although I know I bookmarked it. Will let your know as soon as.
