How to create advertising links on your sidebar

I spent hours today trying to figure out a way to put my affiliate links on my sidebar of my webpage. Currently, I have my affiliate links within my pages and posts. But I wanted potential customers to see them when they first came to my site. So I finally learned how when this lady explained it all on her website. It’s actually very simple. To add an image to your sidebar:

• Upload the image to your media gallery. Check the size to make sure it’s not too big or you will need to readjust after.
• Copy the url of the image (that you’ll see in the right hand side of the media gallery).
• Paste it into the code below, replacing the red text with your image url.

• Copy and paste the full code into a text widget in your sidebar.

To make the image clickable:

• Add a the link code to the beginning of the above code.
• Replace the red text with the url for the place you want the clicker to go.

• Copy and paste the full code into a text widget in your sidebar.

To make it open in a new page:

• Add target=”_blank” to your code.

However, I did not need to go through the above steps. If you already have the HTML for your advertising link, then all you need to do is go to your edit page, click on the text tab (not the visual tab) and you will see the HTML code there. Highlight and copy the code. Then go to your dashboard and click on Widgets. Select the text widget and paste the code within the text box and save. You don’t need to title the text widget.
