Finally, an organic comment, but it was marked as SPAM! lol

So today, I had my first REAL comment...not from my mom, not from my sister, and not from anyone from WA who I got the comment from via the give-and-take thread. This is definitely not meant to discourage our fellow WA members from helping us out to get comments onto our websites, but it was nice to see that this one was unsolicited from the WA community or from a close friend or family member!

This person found my website through my youtube channel! Hallelujah! They were looking for information on growing garlic and problems with growing garlic, found my video, subscribed, and then went to see my website to read what I had written and posted about Leek Moths. He left a nice, long, personal comment with a lot of detail.

So WHY THEN was the comment listed as SPAM? lol. I'm not sure how not-spam it could be.

I will just keep checking the spam folder. Does anyone have any insight as to why this REAL comment from a REAL person would be considered spam?

Many thanks to Jay for the training on using youtube to generate traffic. :) This post on garlic pests is one of the newer ones I've written since doing the training. THANKS JAY!

Thanks folks, and have a great day!

Dianne

Congratulations, that is exciting!

Congrats! Keep on posting quality content within your niche.

I agree with you Larry as well I usually see 20% of WA comments show up in the spam folder for being 1 liners or to general that they relate to every website ever created.
2 I recovered and about 60 others I deleted as they where no relevant to anything.

Congratulations on the start of your organic comments, one step closer.

Thanks, Canuck. :) Have a good night.

When I go through my spam folder it's not uncommon to see a good comment in there. The software tends to error on the safe side. It works a lot like the spam software on your personal email.

hi Larry. I guess it is good that it protects us. The comment had only been in there a couple of days, so no real harm done. :) Have a great night.

I have plenty comments in a spam box. They really sound as from real people. Cheers.

Thanks for the reassurance, Nemira. :)

You can look in my website. They all are recovered from Akismet.

As good as it can be, automated spam detection is, at best, an educated guess at whether or not any given comment is spam. Detection rules can sometimes flag legitimate comments as spam. If, for example, the comment includes an email address commonly used for spamming (such as gmail or yahoo mail), that in itself could cause a legitimate comment to be misidentified as spam.

Thanks, Bob, for responding and for the guidance. Have a great night.

Grats on that! I do not know, i at one time turned it off and just checked everyday. But, there is too much spam. Check them weekly manually I guess would be good.

Thanks, Lisa! I just found it really weird...:) have an awesome day.
