Hi everyone,
I think we all heard takes on this dilemma way too many times when we started our journey. It is a legitimate concern for so many people starting their online business. The main worry is that if we get too specific, the audience will be too small to build a real business around.
I faced this exact mental hurdle when I started my golf balls blog. I could have tried to review every single golf ball on the market from day one. Instead, I focused strictly on recreational, two-piece golf balls. I was a beginner myself, so I just focused on helping other regular amateur golfers figure out what affordable ball to hit.
It felt very narrow at the time. I was completely ignoring the premium, high-end market. But solving that one problem for that one specific group is exactly what helped my site gain traction.

As my own game improved over the next two or three years, I gradually expanded my content to include mid-tier and eventually top-tier premium balls. Starting narrow wasn't a permanent cage; it was simply the best way to break through the noise in the beginning.
How about you?
Did you ever hesitate to get highly specific with your niche because you feared the audience was too small?
How did you overcome that fear of going too narrow?
Thanks for reading,
Dan
