Problems with BackWpUp update plug-in

Craig Smith (Welshy) recently posted a new training video on BackWPUp plugin which I am very grateful for!

After viewing the training, I went over to my email to check the daily sent emails from BackWPUp....... Lo and behold I discovered error and warning messages since 05/03/13! Messages such as ...

- ERROR: No destination correctly defined for backup! Please correct job settings.

- WARNING: File name "wp-content/uploads/2013/01/cropped-cropped-stock-photo-teapot-and-cups-on-table-with-bamboo-leaves-1118100502-e1358130377912-150x150.jpg" too long to be saved correctly in TarGz archive!

I use DropBox to store ALL my back-ups and scheduled this on a daily basis as I was adding new content daily.

I took the advice from Shawn Martin to delete and reschedule everything, so now I do it on a weekly basis rather than daily. However, after updating the plugin, then running it, I'm still getting the same error and warning messages!

Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is it just me?

Glad that you sorted your situation. Whilst I thought I had no problems with mine your post prompted me to check my three sites out and sure enough one wasn't doing anything. This was my mistake as I had not activated the scheduling. So I did and ran a back up now which worked - phew! It also prompted me to put a reminder to check periodically that these are all working as they should, so thank you for this post,
Regards
Hudson.

Hey Hudson

thanks!...glad I could help :0)

I just added this training as well for another "quick and dirty" technique for backing up your blog (although the drop box is much more automated in nature.

Thanks for this Kyle!

Hey T.

You should ALWAYS read the Changelog before updating a plugin for known conflicts, instructions, etc. In this case, the update needs you to reauthorise your Dropbox account AND make sure you "save settings" at the bottom of the page before moving on. There are limits to the length of file names that can be stored on some servers, so your image would be better as "teapot-and-cup-on-table-with-bamboo-leaves.jpg", etc.

Hey Rich

thanks again for your speedy response! I've managed to amend the error and warning messages and have run the full back up again ....and thank God its all looking well:0)
