When I made up my mind that I wanted to be a delta sigma theta, my friends, we not sure I was making the right decision. Joining DST was something I had thought over for a long time. It was something I knew I would join with time.

Why choose delta sigma theta

When I decided to join sisterhood I did not have any doubts. I have one sister who is 8 years older than me. Growing up we were close but due to the age gap, we did not have the chance to school together. When I joined college she had already completed school and this triggered me to join a community of women who we were age mates. I loved basketball but it did not give me the connection I wanted. During my time at the campus, I came across some women who were DST members. They were classy, carried themselves in a friendly manner and were elegant too. This encounter made me know where I wanted to be. Apart from their elegance, another decision that made me join them is the fact that I was a basketball player and most of the players had joined them in the past.

My decision to be a DST was questioned by most of my friends. ‘So you want to be a delta?’ Most of them would ask. Being a DST is a huge step towards self-realization and playing a huge part in society. Initially, people join DST because of peer pressure or out of admirations but at the end they find that it’s the best decision of their life. Most ladies want to join it because of sisterhood. They want to have an association where they feel embraced which works well by joining Delta. In my case, I kept asking myself ‘why do I want to be a delta?’ But I clearly know that I wanted a community to be associated with which would give me satisfaction.

What makes delta sigma theta different?

There are many things to know about delta sigma theta. It’s different because of the organization and the opportunities it presents. The benefits of joining the delta sigma theta torch include:

Sisterhood – This is a bond between ladies that last forever.

Career opportunities – For you to be a member you must pursue a Bachelor’s degree. After graduation, the group helps its members secure employment opportunities.

Community service – Through them, you can help people in your community.

Social events – You get to meet different people in events including other sisters.

Delta sigma makes everything beautiful because its members nature other upcoming members to ensure that the group has continued growth. The feeling of association has always driven me on why I want to be a DST.
