For those of you who haven't read my previous post, I've decided to start a weekly series talking about the growth of my company, HumanProofDesigns from its humble beginnings in 2013, to a company that brought in over $1 million dollars in 2017. It's funny talking about HPD as "my company", rather than my "website" Human Proof Designs did start out as just a website and a service idea though, so it's crazy to see how these things can grow.HPD offers a ton of different affiliate marketing servi

When I joined WA in August 2012, I was looking for a way to make money online, like everyone else who has walked (surfed?) through WA's doors before, and since that fateful day.I raced through what was then a 10-day trial, and signed up for premium straight away.I was full of hope, and dreams, and a ton of excitement, but in the back of my mind there was always doubt. The doubt wasn't that internet marketing worked. The doubt wasn't that WA could teach me.The doubt was that I myself would be able

Hey everyone, today I wanted to do a post on Display Ads. I don't use Display Ads on all my sites, but some of them I do, and for beginners, I think there are a lot of you out there wondering if you should use these ads at all.Short answer: Yes, go for it! I recommend Google AdSense in early days of your site, and then Mediavine.com once you hit 25,000 unique sessions per month. This is a great way to make money from your informational content; also, since most display ad networks will pay per 1

Hey,Quick tip for you all today.A lot of people recommend using Webmaster Tools (or Google Search Console) "Fetch as Google" when they want to speed up getting their site or article indexed.I've never been a fan of doing this, because it's not what Fetch as Google is supposed to be used for, and that's why there's a limit on how many times you can do it.Instead, you should use Google.com/addurl First of all, it's what you're supposed to use, and second of all, it's so much faster.I've had new s

There are a lot of ways you can get referral traffic to your site, but a lot of them aren’t going to bring quality traffic or increase your site’s trust.Things like Stumbleupon might be good for a quick hit of traffic, but is it traffic you want? When you find sources of referral traffic that also adds trust, it’s gold. At one point, my biggest source of sales at HumanProofDesigns was referral traffic, and as a percentage, it’s still one of the best converting traffic typ

If you know me, you’ll be aware that I’ve got a pretty large team of freelancers under me, and that I tend to outsource a lot of things to them.Over the years, I built up this team and gradually outsourced more and more, and found ways to systematize outsourcing. It’s not easy to just find a freelancer and give them tasks and hope for the best, so it took me a long time to learn the right way to do it.Being able to pay for other people’s work is vital to scaling. Instead

I've been in Thailand for about 3.5 weeks now, and have spoken to literally hundreds of other internet marketers over the past couple of weeks. It's been amazing.I don't know the best way to get my point across except by just telling the story of the past month, and why it relates to you.I flew into Krabi at the start of October to spend a week relaxing with my wife and getting over my jet-lag, before flying back up to Bangkok a week later.I'm in a few online communities besides WA, and one of

Hey everyone,Episode 30 of my podcast is due next week, and since it's a big episode (I feel like 30 is a milestone) I wanted to do an FAQ type episode, and go through the 30 most frequently asked questions people have about affiliate marketing. I could probably think of a good 20 myself, but I'm curious what the community has to ask, so if you want me to cover your question in my next episode, write it below, and I'll get to it in the episode.Cheers!Note: These questions can be as newbie or ad

It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of Amazon. They’ve sent me a lot of cheques over the years and I’m even on good terms with some of the higher ups in the affiliate program. They're one of the biggest online retailers in the world, and they let us get a share in that.Of course, their affiliate program, Amazon associates, isn’t perfect. You don’t have to look far to find the common complaints. The cookie is only 24 hours long, the commission percentages are

I've been meaning to write this post for a while but kept forgetting. A couple of other posts recently reminded me to get it done, because there is a lot of misconception going around about what constitutes a long-tail keyword.Let me just say right off the bat...The length of the keyword, the number of words in it, has NOTHING to do with it being considered "long-tail" or not.I have seen quite a few times people saying a long-tail keyword is a keyword with 4 or more words.I've even seen them ca
