WARNING - Just another scam
I know that we are usually smart enough not to fall for these, however, I was very excited to hear from my friend from school. We had only brief conversations through the years since I moved from the area.
Anyway, she asked me if I heard the great news. She and some of our other friends had received a large some of money from a branch of the United Nations...Sort of like Publishers Clearing House, where they show up at your door.
I congratulated her and let her know that I would call later in the week and quickly shut down my computer.
Although I don't communicate with many people from my hometown, I know had that happened to someone in my old community, someone would have called me know about my old schoolmate's good fortune.
Just wanted to send out a warning so that you will be aware of this (if you haven't had this happen to you already).

I always thought that money grew on trees. It must be true because someone told me so. My kids thought so when they were younger. Now their kids think so. Where is that darn tree??
I would like to know about that tree :)...I have not heard anything from my old school mate again. I think someone hacked into her email account somehow. It's scary to know that people are out there just waiting for an opportunity to take advantage of others...How sad.
I just wanted to put the message out there so that others would be aware of the new scam.
I never heard of this. I'm from Chicago folks don't get money lol. We have to create our wealth. Thanks for the heads up.

Sadly I have seen several of my friends with a whole new profile and promises of great riches. I know the real friends are being used unknowingly.
I think in our profession we are bombarded with $$ scams constantly; however, in most cases we are aware of them. At least here at WA we have a community that communicates with one another. Your right bsmith, it is too easy for friend to be used to unknowingly perpetrate a scam.-All the best-
