Keep throwing the football

Everyone knows a dead fish will float down stream with the current. A live fish swims up against the current. And life is like that. You always have to swim against the current which never stops flowing.

Life is tough. No one gets thru life successfully until they start swimming against the current which seems to never stop flowing. always against you.

Yep. that is a fact. You have to overcome obstacles in order to succeed. You can never give up in your struggle to succeed because the river of life never stops flowing. But the effort is what makes you strong.

We can't see much football now due to the Corona virus quarantine but I remember being always amazed at starting quarterbacks who continued to throw the football even when they were on the sidelines. I kept thinking the starters should rest their arms but they know they have to keep throwing so they will be ready when they go back into the game.

You would think that after throwing hundreds, even thousands of passes in practice and in games that they surely would stop and sometimes rest but they never do. They keep throwing whether they are in the game or not. Amazing. I guess that is why they are the starting quarterbacks..

The back up quarterbacks were always sitting on the bench just watching the game.

I was and am amazed at the the successful football players no matter what position they played and their determination to get in the game and play it for all its worth. They even play when hurt. They hate being taken out of the game.

There must be a lesson here for us in pursuing our goals whatever they might be. We have to keep doing what we are doing even when we are on the sidelines, waiting for our turn to get back into the game. Throwing our footballs so we will be ready when the coach (God) calls our name to get into the game.

Four lessons here:

1. I must be determined to succeed when everything seems to be going against me in the river of life.

2. Continuous practice is needed so I will be ready when all others are resting on the sidelines.

3. Nothing worthwhile is ever accomplished without a good deal of effort.

4. I must never give up trying to accomplish something worthwhile.
