Drummond OK
Sometimes the perception is that only government agencies can help the poor and distressed. This last weekend, Liz and I attended the Mennonite Relief Sale in Hutchinson, KS. The weather was cold, windy and miserable yet several thousand people came out to volunteer, purchase and donate to an organization that feeds, clothes and house the poor around the globe.
Several hundred thousand dollars was raised, with over 90% going to help the needy. There are sales like this every year in almost every state, raising millions of dollars.
On our way to the sale we side tripped to Drummond OK, presumably to visit the Pioneer Woman store and cafe. Because of a glitch in planning, I made a powerful personal observation.
