Celebrating The Win - Ranked In Google, Bing, & Yahoo!
The past week I have taken off from anything other than my personal life. I have been so busy focusing on WA and my website for the past month and a half, that I haven't spent a lot of time with my fiance. It was his 26th birthday yesterday, so that was the finale!
Back To Business.
I told him yesterday, we both need to get back to a positive routine. Eating healthy, the gym, waking up early, and our future are what we are focused on.
We woke up this morning and hour after my alarm (darn), but that is okay. Perfection every day is not the key, it is consistency in our goals.
We had the dogs on the bed, so I cannot say the sleep was perfect (4 large dogs). The morning coffee was a must! After breakfast, I decided to log on and she what I had been missing out on for the past few days.
Organic Search.
I was in Analytics a few days ago and noticed my theme updating messed with the linking to my website. The code had to be re-inputted into my website, so there are a few days I have no clue what went on.
Browsing through the sources to my traffic, I stumbled upon something that caught my eye.
Organic search? What is that? It couldn't possibly? No way? .....IT IS!!
YES! My site had gotten a search from Bing!
I was through the roof! I wanted to figure out where it came from, how long they were there, and what they searched to land there.
Understanding Google Analytics.
Although you do not want to spend too much time in analytics, there are a couple places I love to check whenever I get on my computer. In the beginning, if you are spending more than 5 minutes in analytics, you are distracted.
Although Analytics will serve you well when you have an established business, right now you can just get off course and it will actually consume you in the wrong way.
Check out my post on how that happened to me --> Don't get hung up on Analytics!
There are 2 places I like to keep my eye on; Traffic Source/Medium and Landing Pages.
To see the Sources of your traffic:
- Log into Google Analytics
- On the left, there is a menu for navigation. Click "Acquisition"
- Click "All Traffic"
- Click "Source/Medium"
On this you can see where your traffic is coming from and how much time they spent on your site.
To see the Landing Pages:
- Click "Acquisition"
- Click "Social"
- Click "Landing Pages"
This will show you where your traffic ended before they left your site.
What Keyword Was Used.
I was very curious of what keyword the user was searching for my website to pop up. This is how I found the keyword:
- Click "Acquisition"
- Click "All Traffic"
- Click "Treemaps"
- Scroll down and you will see the different the channel grouping.
- Click on "Organic Search" and it will show you the keyword that was used!
My Final Stop.
Excitement running through me, I wanted to do one last thing; find out if I had ranked. I must have right, someone found me by just searching the internet.
Going back to the WA site, I clicked "Research", "Site Rank", and headed over to Jaaxy. I put in a few keywords that I have used before, but this time was different! It was like hitting all 7's at the casino!
First Bing, then yahoo, and finally GOOGLE! Some I was on the FIRST page AND the FIRST position, but those were very particular keywords. I would search very broad keywords and was on the 3 page of most! This is HUGE!
What Is My Next Step?
Writing more content, continuing with my lessons, and interacting with more people on WA of course! Don't get discouraged and DEFINATELY - DO - NOT - QUIT!!
Building a business takes time and patience. You are going to run into times that you aren't as motivated, usually because you feel that you are not getting anywhere.
If it was easy, everyone would do it!

So true about it not being easy. It takes work and there are times when we all want to give up, which is why focusing on certain things and staying consistent is what matters.
And help here in WA, of course.
Congrats on ranking and also on getting back to a good life balance.
And Happy Birthday to the Fiance! 20s to 30s can be fun.
Haha fun and challenging! Yes, I feel great and am ready to go full bore with my writing! Thank you for the support!
k wow, I did not know that about analytics, i just always focused on users and demographics and like everything they show you on the first page. Thanks for teaching me that. Uhm, and congratulations?! That's super awesome and I hope you and your adorable sounding family celebrate your win. Just wondering, do you have a domain name or are you using a siterubix subdomain?
Thank you!! We are all very excited! My dogs definitely take joy in any type of enthusiasm. I am using a Domain name. I decided to spend the money. When sharing with social media and friends, it was easier to tell them about!
