I've had enough! I am no longer the "good guy" in Site Comment!

This will be a short one.

I am sick and tired of members using Site Comment to make a quick buck.

I asked for 3 comments this morning and I had to disapprove 4 of them before I could get 3 decent ones.

Some members don't even read my article, and thank me for recommending something, when in fact I am NOT recommending it!

They just cram words like "thanks for the nice review" twice in the same sentence and say things like "I will let my friend know about this" to let the algorithm let them press "Submit"!

I used to be gentle and when this happened I would edit the post to make it more relevant and grammatically correct. I even went as far as sending private messages to the member asking to change it so that I could approve it, but this is it!

From now on it's disapprove right away. No more chances!

That was my rant for the day 🙂

Have a great one everybody!

They got to you too :-)
Yes, they are usually not so thorough. The first sentence they write is: "Wow, what is a great atricle".
The second is: "I didn'n know, that "... And then they copy something from your post.
And the third, they say: "I will follow your reccomendations".
It takes them only 3 minutes to read the post and write a comment with zero content.

Exactly! Can't add more to that one! 🙂

That's about where I am with site comments. The comments don't have to be perfect grammatically but if they're not thoughtful and relevant, I'm hitting disapprove.

I started to feel guilty because maybe English isn't their first language so reading posts is difficult for them and writing comments is harder. The problem with that is I don't want to 'pay' for poor comments, regardless of why they are poor. I haven't bought credits yet but whether I'm earning them with time commenting or buying credits with money, I'm still buying comments and I want good ones.

Hi Denis.

Excellent. 👍

Let's hope more people do the same thing, then genuine reviewers (like me 😉 – yes, there's a bit of vested interest in here) will get a better number of opportunities. I'm trying to store up a large number of credits to use when my websites go live and have plenty of content, so the only thing holding me back right now is the lack of opportunities.

Reject them all, I say. (smirk)

🙂 I will not reject the good ones but yeah, it does make sense to disapprove the ones that have no value whatsoever.

Well done, Denis, that is definitely the way to go.
Colette and Philip

Not that I want to but I think it will benefit the members who use the platform the way it is supposed to be used!

It is not really accomplishing what I believe the original purpose.

Barry

Hi Barney,
Site Comment is now a great place to get your site more authority and increase your SEO, as long as people don't abuse it. I have had many great comments too. I am just, starting now, disapproving comments that have no value and are just written to get paid their 50cents for.

That makes two of us, Denis.
Welcome to the club, my friend!

If we disapprove them, they may get the message right?

They may, but it is not unusual that the remedy is worse than the disease.
There are guys who act like random comment generators.
The thing is such guys are not interested one bit in building a profitable business here at WA, they are here only for leaving as many comments as possible.

Good Morning Denis,

I hope you have cooled down by now as your Cortisol goes sky high with a rant. I had to smile, please excuse me. I am still in the PM and correcting phase and up till today have never ever (yet) disapproved, but you never know.
I completely follow you as it happens to me too. From very nice, to quite ok, to not so nice this needs some work. When people ask silly questions which show they have not read my post or at least missed some of it I will be polite but become direct in my reply telling them so.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Taetske.

Good. 👍

Reject them all, I say. (smirk)

I'm trying to store up a large number of credits to use when my websites go live and have plenty of content, so the only thing holding me back right now is the lack of opportunities. Weed out the insincere. 👌

Regards,

🙂🙂 I have cooled down quite a bit Taetske 🙂🙂

My cortisol is way down, I just had to say it out loud. My "good samaritan" days are over!

I used to be OK with editing some comments to make them acceptable, but this morning I received 4 of them in a row. They obviously are using the platform to make money, and not reading anything, just browsing quickly and then quickly write a 2 sentence comment that has no value whatsoever.

Thanks for stopping by and making me smile!

Exactly, that way we can receive more honest comments !

Good Morning Tayo,

I started with my website 2 years ago and at that time the Site Comment feature was not so popular as nowadays.
I have been busy with Site Comments for approx one year and have acquired the habit of doing 2 comments a day and putting up one of my posts/pages for comments. 2 Comments a day is about as much as I can handle. Like this I am rotating my 2 websites, checking on older posts, adding some text, photo, video, or link. Like this, my content stays quite fresh.
At WA we do our best to stay friendly as one should not forget we are many countries, cultures, and races all together in this adventure.
One thing is very important that one incorporates Grammarly as that is needed by most people, native speakers or not.
Your system sounds good but when you start please do not have 100 comments out of the blue as that looks strange. Better spread them over the total of your content as that will look more natural.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

"but when you start please do not have 100 comments"
Thank you Taetske for pointing that out. I wouldn't have thought of it. 👍

"At WA we do our best to stay friendly"
Oh dear. But I always score such poor marks in friendliness tests. 😉
(I jest)
(A little)

Greetings back from weird-weather Midlands, UK. 😊

I said this as recently I left a comment and coming back sometime later to read the reply I found 94 comments in 2 days.
Ok, Tayo, I looked at your photo and as you are still young there will be time to learn.
Global Warming = Climate Change and I am living it. I moved into my farm in 1981 and during these years some seasons have gone missing. At the moment we are experiencing a little heat-wave, 6 degrees above normal.
So we are sitting in the sun eating the citrus fruits of the farm, don't get envious.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I understand your frustration. You don't know how how many times I have said nice comments to someone's post when I couldn't even understand it because they didn't know how to write properly. And they could even spell correctly or they didn't even know how to use punctuation correctly.
But Kyle tells us to overlook this. I f we overlook it, how will this help them be successful. I know how you feel.

Danny

Kyle tells us to overlook it in Site Comments because it's to get comments on a website. But Site Feedback is where we give advice on errors and stuff for improvement for the people looking for improvement. Site Feedback comments don't get approved to the website.

Hope that helps. It's a good system for people who care about improvement AND getting comments. Not a good system if you're just interested in comments.

Ok

I have overlooked since October's upgrade, but my patience has a limit when you need 7 comments to get 3 good ones! I do realize that some members don't speak English as their first language, myself included, my mother tongue is French.

But this is not about grammatical or syntax errors.

This is about members using Site Comment to make money as fast as they can. I am not going to let them use my articles for that anymore!

This platform is to help each other gain authority and help with SEO by engaging with people, not to be a comment editor!

I agree but I don't know much about earnings money through site comments. I do it to get comments back.

Danny

No mercy!

Very irritating. I understand as I get the same comments once in a while. :)

This morning it was just too much!
