Parked Domains?

OK Guys,
I must be honest with you all, perhaps I have been a little naive I think regarding reading fully the t's&c's of some domain providers. I have purchased quite a lot of them in the last few months but haven't done anything with them at all. I mean nothing at all, just parked where I purchased them from. They are not currently up For Sale, (I don't think) just parked. I typed in several of my domain url's just out of interest to see what came up on my screen? And low and behold : wait for it; it was a lovely landing page/ advert for the companies that sold me the domains. All sorts of links involved. Totally taking advantage of that domain just sitting there with nothing doing. Like I said, is this me being naive to think I own that site yet they have an ad for themselves on my domain! So if you have any domains that you own that are at the moment parked only, please check them out to see what is on your url.
I would really appreciate any feedback/education on this subject please WA'ers.

Perhaps this is just the norm rather than having a blank page? I don't know......
Cheers
