Darren, I think Polly is right, the give and take comment thread is great, and you really have a great story to tell too:-

Welcome to the real world. I will bet over 50% of us have been scammed at one time or another if we haven't, we haven't been taking the necessary risks to become successful. As an entrepreneur, you have to be willing to make mistakes and then learn from the. Your story is not that unusual, but it doesn't make it any easier. Good luck on your current venture.

Like the story as when I have been desperate I usually am blinded to the signs and get taken. Several MLM companies come to mind!

Darren: thanks for sharing this story and I hope (as you obviously do) this will help others. The most critical element in business success is the true passion to help others (not just get their money) and you have obviously learned this early in your life! Good for you and btw...If I can ever help YOU...just let me know! Vance: aka STARDADDY

Thanks a lot Vance. Your encouragement will make me stronger. Same here. If you need any help, just let me know. Btw, my specialist is Japanese language:)

Very good post, Darren. Scams with these mechanics were pretty common here in the U.S. a few years ago, but seem to have petered out in recent times. Mainly because most of the perpetrators have landed in prison, where they've had time to develop more sophisticated scams that have not yet become illegal.
