Better late than never...?
I bought a handful of domain names a while back revolving around the release of a new Magic: The Gathering set. For those of you that don't know, MTG is a trading card game - think Dungeons and Dragons.
It is estimated that there are 6 million people that actively play MTG around the world, and that number gets bigger every year. There is a HUGE market for it, and I don't see that dying anytime soon.
The goal of my sites were to be informative about the new play mechanics and cards that will be in the block. (There are 3 sets in each block and with each, new features are introduced). It will provide affiliate links to major MTG online retailers as well as my personal online store (currently inactive).
Well with the pre-release events of the new set - Theros - tomorrow, my site(s) were not built in time to have any impact whatsoever. What's more is that NO ONE will be googling "Theros Spoilers" because all the news is already out!
Check out what I've got started - http://www.therosspoiler.com/ - needs some serious tinkering, and I'm not sure if I can do exactly what I want with this theme.
But I will not let these domains be for naught... I will finish this site before I leave the office tonight. It will serve two purposes:
1) I will have finished something I started
2) I will have learned and developed the process to make my next site effective in time (spoilers for the next set start coming out in a few weeks anyway)
3) I will have a finished product in my portfolio!
Let me know what you guys think! Are there any MTG fans out there? Would love to hear some feed back.
thanks,
-d

I like Paul am not familiar with the MTG family. However, the site looks great. I hope you can successfully monetize it. You are off to a great beginning.
I'll put my cards on the table here (ho ho ho) and say I know NOTHING about MTG, except that I'll be looking into it - it looks like fun. The site looks as if it will be great if you can make it work. I was instantly drawn to clicking on each card and it will be interesting to see if you can say what you want to in the space each post allows. As far as attractiveness is concerned though, it's a winner!
Thanks, Paul. The art on MTG cards has always been incredible which makes this niche super conducive for a visual site - like this one. The theme's finicky - images are a bit bigger than I'd like and there's not a ton of room for adverts on the homepage.
Like I said, a work in progress. Stay tuned!
that's great! How old is he? I played when I was a kid for a few years but just this year I bought my buddy a booster pack for Christmas as a joke and we ended up getting back into it. It's a blast.
Haven't played in a couple months, but I'm looking forward to pre-release weekend starting tomorrow!
thanks again for the comment! good luck to you.

I do know there is an online version of MTG. My son plays it. I don't know the name and don't know if I could mention it here anyways. maybe you could check it out and see if they affiliate?
