Oh the guilt. I'm taking the night off!

I've been a member of WA for just over 2 weeks and launched my first proper niche site two weeks ago today. Well I figured I've achieved quite a lot so far and deserved a night off, in particular because it was 9.30pm before I got my little boy to bed and finished my dinner...

But now the guilt has set in and I find myself sat here on my phone looking at WA! It seems I'm not happy about taking a night off after all! I'll be back tomorrow with a bang I hope!

How about everyone else, do you allow yourself a night off and if so how often?

When you are freshly excited about something it can become quite a challenge. I have felt guilty often but I am always thankful for the rest afterwards.

I've definitely slacked off a little since I returned from holiday on Monday, but I'm pushing myself this evening as I have my next 2 posts in mind. Hoping to publish one today and have the second ready tomorrow. Too much rest makes us lazy! ;)

That is so true. It is easy to fall into the habit of resting than to keep up the habit of doing what we need to do. I have a daily tracklist for my site health on a wall I cannot ignore to remind me to do something. Does not always happen but its a good safeguard.

I have a scrappy notepad with my daily tasks written on it. I tend to write out the next 3 or 4 days and make one of them an easy day so if I slack off on one of the days, I can make up for it soon. I also try to make sure that every other day has "write next post" on it, and then fill out the in between days with researching keywords, improving social media presence (I've just started on cert course 4), and finding media for my forthcoming posts. So I don't feel like I'm constantly writing content, I do get variety of "work" which I love.

Sounds great. The key thing is you are making progress each day, even if it doesn't immediately result in a post. You will find some other post will be easier because you did the work before already.

Caroline it is called the "Quality of Life," how to balance work life with personal life. The saying "All work and no play makes Jack or Jill a dull person," is true. I personally since I am retired definitely take parts of Friday and Saturday off to be with family and friends. Sunday afternoons are definitely for family.

Yes I think it's great to actually schedule in set times for your rest periods, so that you have something to look forward to, but also know when you need to crack on again.

We all need to take breaks otherwise it's a case of becoming overwhelmed :)

For sure! I'm hoping not to become overwhelmed but the pregnancy tiredness is kicking in again (I'm now 6 months pregnant) so I need to keep pushing myself until Xmas as I know after that I'll be slowing down again in preparation for baby number 2. I want to have a solid base before I have the baby, as I think I may be slowed down to something like 1 post per week when he first arrives.

All the best with the baby :)
