My Progress in Website Building
Last December, I realized that my husband and I need some sort of secondary income, as a buffer in case things go wrong. At our ages, taking on a second job, even if one were available, and even IF we were hired , would be too exhausting. So, I decided to try to see if there were some way to generate a few dollars working online.
I came across Wealthy Affiliate, and it seemed like the answer. Learn how to build a website, based around something I am passionate about, learn how to promote it, and apply with Amazon Affiliates and Google Adsense to try to make a little income if anyone uses the ad links.
My passions are cooking, reading, writing and drawing. I decided to go with a cooking blog, aimed at people who are inexperienced cooks and people who are pressed for time. Simple, easy recipes, most of which are quick to prepare/cook. I realized that many people prefer the dessert recipes, so I have tended to write more of those. I want to do some posts for people who are trying to lose weight, and for seniors living alone.
I've learned how build a website in Wordpress, to select a theme, how to add and use widgets, create a page, create a post, add links, embed videos, add pictures, create tags. I even learned how to make a banner! I've learned how to make a page in facebook, create a board and pin on Pinterest, tweet on Twitter, and share on Google+. I've acquired a whole new vocabulary to go with my new skills.
I have a website, www.mealsinahurry.org , which is at number one on Yahoo and Bing, and three quarters of the way down the second page in Google. I have had the help and support of the Wealthy Affiliate community, and they are a nice, helpful group of people. I haven't made a sale yet, and I don't have a lot of traffic, but I hope that will change as I continue to add content.
Forward, and (I hope) upward to page one:)

It sounds like you're making quite a bit of progress and have learned a lot of valuable information along the way. I hope you make your first sale very soon and many more to follow.
Good job. I'm also amazed at how much I've learned in the period of time that I've been here. Keep going. You will make money.
