You're A Good Egg!

Ever hear that expression?

"You're a good egg!"

It means you're a pretty good guy (or gal).

It's funny, because eggs have kind of gotten a bad rap, health wise. I still toss the yolk when I get a hard boiled egg on my salad. I don't know if it's really necessary, though. I've just been subject to the anti-egg propaganda for so long, I guess.

Hey, do you remember Cool Hand Luke trying to eat 50 hard-boiled eggs? If you haven't seen the 1967 Paul Newman film, do yourself a favor and rent it now!

Did he do it? Watch the movie!

Can you imagine?!

At least the guys peeled the eggs for him.

Egg as a pizza topping? I think I'll pass on that!

Those Easter cream-filled eggs are a bit sweet for my taste, too...

(I'm a chocolate lover...just not too sweet, and not too bitter!)

"Psst...Hey, buddy...maybe you shouldn't eat eggs at all!"

And what's the deal with Easter egg hunts?

My church had one this year, and they had so many eggs, all the kids had, like, 100 eggs in their basket!

6 kids found slips of paper entitling them to drones (unmanned aerial vehicles). Are we really that desperate to get people into our churches?

The Easter Bunny must have deep pockets!

Let's face it, DeNiro would look like a tough guy eating a jelly belly!

Just the idea of where eggs come from is kind of peculiar, if you think about it...

I'm with you, kid!

This is taking it a little too far (poor chicken!)...

Deviled eggs are good!

Scrambled eggs aren't bad...

I personally like omelettes...

Whoa!

Over easy eggs are tasty, too...

Remember Rocky drinking raw eggs?

"Yo, Adrienne!"

Egg science...

Egg art...

I don't mind a sip of egg nog around Christmas time. It's good with a little Amaretto mixed in. (I'm sure it's fattening, though!)

What are some other ways to cook eggs?

Well, there's...

coddled...

fried...

poached...

avgolemono . (I only knew this from my favorite egg-lemon orzo soup at Mr. Souvlaki's Greek restaurant in Tarpon Springs, Florida)...

egg foo yung...

egg drop soup...

egg salad...

Eggs Benedict...

French toast (toast dipped in an egg mixture and fried)...

frittata...

huevos rancheros...

pickled eggs...

souffle...

egg custard...

meringue...

Egg McMuffin...

Whew! And that's only the ones I know about. There are probably hundreds of other egg dishes I'm unfamiliar with.

How about expressions using the word "egg?"

Let's see now...

"Go suck an egg"...

A bad egg...

A hard egg to crack...

Nest egg...

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket"...

Egg on your face...

"Go fry an egg!"...

Goose egg...

"Don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs"...

Lay an egg...

Rotten egg...

Tough egg to crack...

Walking on eggs...

"What's that got to do with the price of eggs?"...

"You can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs"

Now, isn't this egg-zactly what you were wanting to see today?
