Here are the startling conclusions from this comprehensive Wink Study...

1. The best looking winks involve just the eye, which is probably the most difficult wink to accomplish.

2. Sometimes, a bit of something with the mouth is OK, but nothing too extreme.

3. Maintain eye contact during the wink, and do not turn away after winking. This may give the impression of a lack of self-confidence, or, worse, insincerity.

If you are going to wink at a business prospect, or even a business colleague, please do not take it lightly, because the simple act of something seemingly so small as a wink can have major consequences, if misinterpreted.

For example, you don't want to casually wink and come across to your customers like woman #65!

I would go so far as to suggest that you practice winking in front of a mirror, following the guidelines listed above, until you have mastered the "perfect wink."

Don't come across as "squirrelly," like #55, Jeff Goldblum, or just plain weird, like the #30 winker!
