15 Ways To Spell Mosquito?
Famous explorer William Clark, of the 1804-06 Lewis and Clark "Corps of Discovery," did many great things, including helping to discover 122 kinds of animals (The Grizzly bear was one of them!)
The team was sent to explore newly purchased land (800,000 square miles, bought from France for $15 million dollars) west of the Mississippi River.
Trekking less than 14 miles a day (That ain't bad!), the team eventually reached the Pacific Ocean. Counting their trip west and back, the team traveled more than 8,000 miles!
As great an explorer as Clark was, it turns out he was a miserable speller, spelling "Mosquito" 15 different ways in his daily journal. That takes some doing!
1. mosquito...The correct spelling. (You can trust me-I was a spelling champion in 3rd grade!) Even an explorer is bound to get lucky once in a while.
2. moskeeto...Like "Mo money," only with mosquitos.
3. mesquiteoh...A spicy variety of mosquito, actually eaten by certain Ethiopian tribesmen.
4. mosqueato...Referring to a weekly pot luck dinner at the local Mosque.
5. moreskeeto...There are always "more" of them than what you expected to encounter.
6. moskitow...Water skiing mosquitos, kind of like fleas in a Flea Circus.
7. moskitoe...A foot condition, similar to "Missile Toe" in Astronauts, but caused by too much water skiing.
8. maskeeto...A mosquito in disguise.
9. meskeeto...Kind of like-"Be the mosquito!"
10. skeeto...Skeet shooting, but with mosquitos as targets (Keen eye needed).
11. skeeter...From the German, "There's a skeeter on Dieter!"
12. mistskeeto...From Dian Fossey's lesser known work, "Mosquitos in the Mist."
13. masskeeto...Of or pertaining to the Catholic Church.
14. missskeeto...A female mosquito.
15. messkeeto...An unkempt mosquito.
