Watch out! - Don't let this guy stand in your way of success

So I have been a member of Wealthy Affiliate for almost 2½ year now, and it has been a very interesting ride. Getting a lot of new acquaintances and been overwhelmed all the help and lessons available inside this community. However time and time again I met this guy who kept standing in my way of success.. Apparently I have been following this guy ever since I started in here, I just didn't know.

Well about a 3 weeks ago I decided to really spend some time in here... And by being active, helping others out and observing the successful people in here, I ranked better than ever.. But more important: I finally found out what this guy is called...

Mr. Procrastination

Have you ever met him?

He is the guy sitting on your shoulder whispering thing like:

  • This is hard, why don't you just look at funny cats on Youtube instead
  • Think it over once more.. It must be difficult. Otherwise everyone would do it
  • You better watch some more videos before you start creating content

Well illustrated by this cycle:

Have you also heard him?

Well I have, and he have been sitting on my shoulder almost since I started in here.. But now I have decided to unfollow him as a friend and follow the the words of Nike and lately Shia LaBeouf (https://youtu.be/ZXsQAXx_ao0):

...But is it really that simple? Well time will tell for me, but what do you think? Is it better just to get going and learn from your mistakes or do you prefer to have everything in control before starting up?

Let me know, and please follow me if you like, then we can follow up on each other's success and motivate each other when needed.

To success!

Cheers

That's a huge problem I have. Here lately when I get frustrated I'll take a break from the training. But there's still that little voice in my head telling me to stop and do something else. But I'm not going to give up.

Good to hear Nichole! Its sometimes a good investment to walk away for a bit just to come back more motivated. But never give up! Im rooting for you

Thank you.

Simple advice but spot on!
"Just do it!"

Yeah.. But why are we always considering other options instead of doing just that :-)

Yes, procrastination is always present. I often find that it helps to think of the handicapped friends I know at this. They would give anything to be in my shoes and free to do what I should be doing..

Thanks for your comment Marcus!

Yeah agree.. We often take for granted what we are actually capable of..

I have Ms. Procrastination sitting on my shoulder and she keeps saying "You can't do it - Its just too hard!!" Or she's saying "I'm too tired".
Thanks for the inspiration. Going to give myself a good kick in the ass now.
Sandy

Great Sandy.. Let me know how it goes! Have a great day/evening
Chris

Good one. For me it's also: "I'm too tired to work tonight". It's ironic. Work and commuting takes 12-14 hours of my time these days. The funny part, I joined WA to generate additional income in case my job goes belly up. I hoped to be ready when this happens but I have very little time because of my current workload.

Hey Magda, yeah I know that one too.. I think many of us do this beside our normal job, as making it full time is not something we just do overnight. However we have to start at some point and keep momentum towards our goals. If we dont then we will never succeed. This is where Mr. Procrastination has been to big part of my WA life at least. I am changing that now. Point is: it doesnt matter if you go from 15 minutes to 20 minutes or 2 hours to 4 hours. Just as long as you move forward and learn from your mistakes. Have a good one :-)

That's a great illustration and so true. I'm a procrastinator as well. But also a person with so much to do that it's impossible to do it all. So, I prioritize best I can. That's all anyone can do...I guess. LOL

Thanks for your comment Liz.. I agree that there is many things to do and that we have to prioritize, but sometimes I think that it becomes an excuse to only do the things that are fun at the moment and not the things that are needed to progress and learn.

If only laundry, housework and cooking were more fun ;-) It's rough being grown up! Lol. Just gotta make the time.

Yes agree.. Or prioritize what matters to you ;-)

Ya for sure. I've got a lot that matters. How bout you? How do you prioritize?

Family first.. (Which is my my WA progress stalled for more than a year) and then dayjob followed by affiliate blogging which is just a hobby for now (am making a decent paycheck however)

Same. But trying to get the site to work so it can be income too. Taking a while. But it's all good.

Cool.. Please let me know if you need help.

Have had a very close relationship with him off and on. His specialty is distraction. His daddy is fear and he has many brothers. He's got to go. Boot'im. Cheers.

LOL havent thought about that analogy Rich.. Thanks for the comment too :-)

I know the feeling....LOL
I think that he comes and visits me every once in awhile and thinks he is going to stay. I have to evict him!!!
Following you now.

Yeah do evict him Digger :-) Thanks for the follow.. I am following you back.

lol yes I think you are right, this is the best place to ditch him, lets just do it, I've left you a follow :)

Thanks Tracy.. I followed you instead of him :-)

Hey Chris, procrastination is the thief of time, as you have discovered! But onward and upward from here on, yeah? All the best as you continue to push and tell that 'friend' where to go!

Thanks Jude :-)
