Well, I must admit that holidays used to be an excuse to party, drink, eat somewhere besides at home, where as the "mom" I had to cook.

Life has really changed since I was young and thought that I knew how to have fun. However, retired and already lived the first part of my life teaching and being "Mom," it really is such a shock to realize how close the people of this world have gotten - because of online folks like us. I talk to friends in Israel and worry about them and their families because I am conscious of the dangers constant in their part of the globe. I Skyped with two friends recently in Australia to learn how well they are doing in their online businesses. There is value in a close community or world. Speaking of....

Since we retired from Atlanta to this Sonoran Desert in Arizona, we live in a community of folks closer to our age. Now, holidays mean checking up on neighbors who are older or remembering to thank a special friend who served in Vietnam. I mean, calling him, on purpose, to say how much I appreciate his service to our country. My mind also wanders to the local police force and those in other cities whose lives are also in danger these days.

Let's not get too maudlin here, this is gratitude, my community! One of the first things parents teach their children is to say "Thankyou." I am writing this blog to do just that to the members of our WA community who have served this country in some capacity where personal harm was possible. I also would like take this opportunity to thank those of you who take your own time to write notes to those of us who ask for help. Finally, last and probably most important, I am grateful to Kyle and Carson. They may be businessmen but they sure as hell know how to make WA a welcome place and a close knit training ground. They really do care! Thank you both....

One final note that brings it all back to WA...if it is appropriate to your websites or email list, traffic, whatever, perhaps a show of gratitude would be something of value one could include there. I am not writing private messages of gratitude, but I thank a couple very special WA's for encouraging me!

Have a very safe and memorable weekend/holiday....Happy Memorial Day !

Blessings, Miss Chris

Too bad you weren't around so that the duty to this country do you know what it was like (April-1968) THANKS very much for being so thoughtly

Hey there...thanks for the notice. I must correct you.....I was already married in 1967. I graduated high school and was 1 year from graduating from OSU. The year before I taught h.s. in Ravenna, OH and lost a student from my senior English lit. class in the Army.
Actually, we were all too aware of the dangers we faced in 1963 when POS John Kennedy was assassinated. Miss Chris
