Get Off Your Assets!

When I was introduced to Wealthy Affiliate, I jumped in with both feet. I had experienced several botched attempts at starting an online business. I read a number of the very favorable WA reviews and registered for the seven days test run. Towards the end of this period, I decided to upgrade although I had no idea what direction I wanted to take with this new platform. The more I kept reading, the more undecided I became, despite knowing that I planned to stick with the program.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. As I continued to struggle, I stumbled upon a very experienced WA associate from the UK who offered help to the community. I jumped at the offer to connect with someone who is successful and knew how to make things happen. We talked for a long time and agreed that I am experiencing "information overload". We agreed that I should take a break. "Turn off the computer for a week or two and write down what you want to do" was the advise that I got. I have not been able to stay off the computer 100% but I've backed away for a while.

I have now decided that although I'm still without a firm game plan, I need to focus on reinventing myself. I'm reminded of a number of suggestions by blogger James Altucher who's book "Choose Yourself", I read sometime last year. He also wrote a blog on the topic of re-inventing yourself. While there are numerous writings on this topic, I was quite amused by James's essay:

Making the decision to take time-out has set me back somewhat but I can live with that as now I feel more focused. It has given me the opportunity to spend time looking at many of the splendid articles, blogs and websites at WA. It has also given me a better sense of the vast community of which I am now a part.

The membership at Wealthy Affiliate, seems to replicate the "Who's Who" at the United Nations. There are people from all walks of life and from different countries around the world. There are folks of every race, color and creed. The levels of education and expertise are varied and there is such a great sense of community. I feel blessed to be here and look forward to learning and growing with the wonderful folks. I will be happy to assist whenever and wherever I can.

I have decided to offically start my journey at this time 02:30 hours on February 1, 2015. It's Super Bowl day so I believe the time is right for me to "take the field".
