Successful Project Development

There are techniques that people use so as to reach success. One that is often used is project work and development. Most of us know what a project is, but for those that don't, I explain it as being a way to reach a destiny that can't be reached in one leap. It takes thought and planning. When the journey is long, we have to break it up into shorter stretches and take rests along the way. Each stop we make and take a moment to reflect on how far we have reached, we feel rewarded at the fact that we are actually getting there, and we smile in relief. When we finally reach our destination, we feel proud of ourselves for the achievement, and the next time we make the same journey, we see that we are now more accustomed to the route, and we reach our destiny a lot quicker. What we are doing is planning and developing a way of how to get from A-B. This is how project development works. However, when we are going somewhere or doing something for the first time, we have to SLOW DOWN!

I have worked as a successful teacher and project development worker for over 10 years. I begin by setting up a project file (or book) and a works diary. I put in writing the following questions and answers before each project. In my diary, each working day, I break down the activities into hourly increments. Below is an example.

1) Where do I want to be at the end of this journey?

2) How am I going to get there?

3) What help is there? Who can help?

4) How much time do I have each week, day to work on this project?

5) I can't do everything at once, so what are my priorities now?

6) How will I know when I have reached each goal?

7) How will I motivate myself to go on when I feel like giving up?

8) What will I do to reward myself for each goal achieved?

9) How will I share this with others and recognise my own success and worth?

10) How will I make sure that I am being the best that I can be?

Answers:

1) Have my own online business

2) Find a good training program that works for me, in my time.

3) I need help in setting up a website and understanding social networking. I need a sympathetic and helpful trainer and to have access to like minded people that will help me along the way.

4) I have two full days a week and one half day to work on this project

5) My first priority is to complete my training. I will set myself monthly goals to acheive. I will use each work period for this and nothing else.

6) At the end of each day I will tick off what I have achieved in a works diary and note what I will do for the next working period. I will write comments at the end of each session of any obstacles and what I need to do to overcome them.

7) I will remind myself of 5 reasons why I am doing this:

• Achievement - what?
• Financial gain - how much?
• Rewarding - how?
• Self respect, self esteem - why?
• I will do this - why?

8) At the end of each month I will take a day off (or half day)

9) At the end of each month I will write a post on WA about my achievements or my new goals for the next month.

10) At the end of each working day I will note at least 3 of my personal strengths and skills that I have practiced during my work.

Using this method has really helped me to keep going when I've felt overwhelmed, had obstacles to over come or felt like giving up. At the same time I'm able to stay focused and see my achievements and success at a glance. This gives me confidence to go on

Building and running a business is quite an acheivementfor anyone. We all deserve a pat on the back here at WA. Why? Because we're worth it!
