All In A Days Work
Any one that reads my posts is aware of the tech' prob's I've been experiencing with or without a laptop. Well, it's still going on. This really does frustrate me because it slows me right down with my work. You see, for some reason or other, my laptop doesn't have a CD drive, which means that I have to download software for my devices. Whenever I try to do this, errors keep on popping up and preventing me from opening it even though the download is successful. I'm tired of taking the thing back to the providers every time I want to download software ---it's ridiculous!!! Am I over reacting here? Is this usual with new laptops? I'm going to have to take the thing in again tomorrow because I can't get my printer or scanner software going - error with Acrobat Reader apparently.
Thing is, I do need this for my business - accounts and stuff - but not for communicating here and moving forward with my Online Marketing...so glad of that. Thanks for being here WA's, just putting my frustration down does help. Tomorrow will be a better day : )

I always had problems with my laptop, there were always driver and compatibility issues, this was many years ago so it may not be as bad now but I do sympathise. As I no longer have one I can't be much more help. It might help to know what programs you are trying to install and what the pops up say in order to come up with a theory.
Hi EIGuapo. Thanks for your reply. Really I was just having a moan
: ) You guys here at WA are so good, wanting to help. I do a lot of downloads in my work, but I shouldn't be having the problems that I have. It's a brand new laptop. Incidentally, the downloads are successful. It's the setting up and running of them that's the issue. I'll be visiting the providers tomorrow and see if we can get to the bottom of this ongoing problem.: )
Hello Claire. Have you tried downloading to a Flash Drive.
Then you could just upload whatever it is to your Laptop.
I save stuff on Flash Drives all the time on a 'Just In Case' basis.
Works for me.

Hi Robert. I did consider this. Thing is, I shouldn't behaving the issues that I'm having. I got a second opinion over the weekend from two different technicians. Both agreed with this, and so I gave the provider a call. Will be seeing them tomorrow...apparently it may be a roguish machine - it happens. Fortunately I do have a back up laptop, just not as efficient. I'm managing to 'hang on in there' though. : )
Ok and I hope your providers sort it out for me.
I'm like you as well with a spare laptop but I have actually backed up all my stuff from my PC to it. easy as pie when you know how so maybe you should as the guys who are coming to do it for you.
Robert
Thanks Robert. I'll do that. Incidentally they haven't got back to me yet...humm...time for a telephone call me thinks. A freind is going to spend some time with me tomorrow and see if he can identify the prob'. i look forward to the time when i can look back at this challenge with a feeling of accomplishment : )
I did : ) I've had a friend check it over as well. He's tweaked unnecessary stuff that was going on in the back ground. That should help. It's good to be back. I don't so much believe in trying to catch up, but there's so much to do!

Thanks Nemira. I wont. I'm enjoying my work and am able to differentiate between that and the technical constraints I'm enduring
