Is it a Neesh or a Nich?!

Hi Everyone,

What a week! When you look back at those 7 days that you got to live through what's that one thing that sticks out the most and what can you take from it?

For me it was earlier this week. I attended a networking event where I live that was hosted by one of our local business organizations. For a population of about 110,000, we are quite the going concern when it comes to having the resources an Entrepreneur needs to thrive. A gentleman approached me and as expected I was asked what kind of business do I have. I briefly explained my niche and lightly touched on how I run my two businesses. And from there well!

In no uncertain terms he told me that it's not pronounced nich it's neesh! I respectfully said it all comes down to where you come from and/or your personal preference. He also couldn't wrap his head around the fact that my affiliate business in health isn't some sort of scheme to hoodwink everyone there. During this conversation I was thinking what is happening! Why is he talking like this! Then I simply said it was nice to meet you and walked away.

Previous me would have let that fester on my mind and emotions for weeks but present me thinks on it just long enough to learn the lesson and use that as my strength. I took that interaction as a reflection on him. I know who I am and I'll never justify my purpose or my roles to entertain the negative. I know that no matter the critic, I'm making my goals come to life and each success is going to prove the naysayers wrong. I think that conversation was meant to remind me of that. So thank you whoever you are.

It also reminded me that there's still a stigma attached to our industry. And I get why. People have been hurt so many times over the years by so much misinformation, disinformation and incompetence. We have the power and knowledge to rise above that.

I won't get into becoming an authority, gaining trust and all that we need to do to establish ourselves. That's covered in all the blogs and trainings here. That being said: even though most of the work is done behind the scenes at your computer to raise your reputation, put yourself out there. You are a business owner just like any other. When you speak with people in person, speak as a business owner! This is a big part of who you are and what you do. Be so proud of that! Hold yourself to the highest standards. Be confident and truthful with facts and expectations and goals. Speak with kindness and grace. Our community is to serve others and we need to represent what we're all about here. Just having those conversations is a tried and true way to get people interested and hopefully curious enough to want to find out more.

And as far as the not so good conversations like the one I had? It's all good. Another gentleman was waiting with a smile behind him, ready to talk.

Here's to another week ahead. I can't wait :)

It doesn't matter how you pronounce it as you said depends where you are from.
As for that moron he still has no insight of how others around the world work and think. Glad you were nice and walked away and just kept your ground and moved on.
Just be you and believe in yourself such people are the ones that create so much negativity around others with their one set mindset which really has no growth in it.

Wishing you a wonderful and productive day and week ahead.

Thank you Andre! I just wanted to put a positive spin out there to someone who may be experiencing negativity from someone. This can be a lonely journey sometimes and I want that someone to know they're not alone in this.

The origin of niche is French so should be pronounced "neesh", however so long as it's understood it doesn't matter too much.
