Tracking My Website.
I am getting mind-boggled. Is there a neat organized way to track links, sales and referrals. How do you set up tracking codes or ID's. It seems we have set up numerous programs etc. during training but trying to follow them all is overwhelming.
Right now I have:
- Google Webmaster Tools for which we set up a "starter" and "premium" sign up goals and entered tracking goals in the "links & tracking" page of WA. We did the same with Bing. I have not seen these or figured out how to use them since.
- I have links pasted all over social networks but which ones are being clicked on I do not know.
- I have some free advertising but again other than seeing number of views on the ad sites I have no way of knowing who is doing what
- I am using Bing ads and I seem to be doing OK with impressions and clicks but I do not know if I set up any goals as a measurement of success and if I did where to find them.
- I have links here at WA and access to the information here to promote WA but again I do not know how to track it.
- I have URL shorteners which do tell me the number of clicks but not where they are coming from
- I have Google Analytics and to date that is where I have been trying to get most of my information from but I am still not really getting what I am looking for.
Right now I have no idea at all where my referrals are coming from....from free ads, from Bing Ads, from Social networks, etc.
I have spent a great deal of time trying to find information on how to create tracking codes (ids) and how to organize them in a logical manner and even where to keep them organized. (Like a Password keeper) May be there is no such thing...I do not know.
Tracking is one area where WA fails miserably in the training.
When we set up GWT according to training we created a tracking code, copied it into the page here at WA and that is all that was said. Right now I do not even know where to find the code. Some follow-up information on how to use the codes would be fantastic. I remember after copying and pasting the code I said to myself "Now What?" I assumed further training would go into more detail. Well I have finished both the Bootcamp and The Entrepreneur Certification and those tracking codes were never mentioned again.
So if there are any link tracking experts out there I would love some help, some advice or just some information.
I would love to see some Comprehensive training on this subject! Tracking Everything! For some reason it seems to have been avoided by our founders.

You plaster links all over you say and now you want to track them. First off, it's up to you to keep a record what link you post where. Then there are ways to track in your WA Affiliate Program section. You can create link tracking right there. Search in the bar above for a lot of info.
Then there are Jay Magistudio webinar videos that explain in detail how to set up tracking in Google Analytics. The code you pasted in your site can be found in Google WMT and Google Analytics.
Start with searching in bar above for tracking links
Then find Jay video, October of last year if I remember correctly and Title contains Tracking & Google

Thanks for the information John. As always the community here comes through. I should have been a little more precise on what I meant by lacking miserably. I meant during the Bootcamp training and the Certification Training. There is very little training about using tracking codes once they are installed in those two courses. I know I can find the code I pasted here on GWT tools but I do not see the purpose it is serving. I can see here it if I click on Google and starter. But again I am not sure what it is doing. I have seen no reference to it either in the two specific trainings mentioned above or on my links and tracking page since I put it there.
I will continue to look for training and go through them. I know eventually I will find what I am looking for. I would simply like to know what resources I am using that are proving beneficial and which ones are not!
I understand. Going to compile a list where to find what you need. The WA tracking module is kind of tricky so I have to refresh my Alzheimer's affected brain cell (only one left :-) ). I'll try to get it all together by tomorrow.

John - another one who is interested in reading your training when it is done! Please do it!!! :)
I use a plugin called GoCode - it is actually meant to create redirects for affiliate links but it also tracks the clicks for each one I create.
So you can create a new link for each place you are pasting the link

Just looked at it but it is untested with my version of WordPress. Will that make a difference?
You're welcome. I forgot to mention that I also created a google sheet (like excel) to keep track of what redirect link I use and where I put that link.
It was untested with mine as well and I haven't had any problems. Most plugins don't update as fast as wordpress does. If you want, you can create a free siterubix site and test it there first.
I have been keeping track on paper what links I have used and where I have posted them. I will organize them into a spreadsheet once I have figured out the whole tracking links thing lol.

I'm trying out StatCounter which is free (there is an option to upgrade). I'm trying it out today, so we'll see.
